2012 National League Pennant Betting Odds

The National League has seen some great play this season from teams and some not so great play from many teams. The Los Angeles Dodgers have been playing without Matt Kemp, but have still managed to stay within striking distance in the National League West. Oddsmakers are tabbing the Dodgers as the favorite in the 2012 National League Pennant Betting Odds.

The Dodgers are currently the odds-on favorite to represent the National League in the World Series come October, with a current 13/4 bet slip. In other words, if you wanted to bet $100 on the Dodgers to win the National League and they were able to accomplish that, your bet would profit back $325. Right now the San Fransisco Giants sit in first place in the National League West by half a game over the Dodgers. LA has fallen on hard times lately, losing nine of the past 10 games. Yet, oddsmakers still believe they will get it back on track and make some noise in the playoffs. The Giants, on the other hand, are sitting at 13/2 odds, meaning for every $1 bet, a win would bring back $6.5 of profit.

In the National League East, the Washington Nationals — yes, those Washington Nationals — have the best odds of representing the National League in the World Series. They have upstart rookie Bryce Harper, Stephen Strasburg and a roster full of scrappy guys that are just looking to get the job done. Each had played an intricate role to where the Nats are right now — first place. In fact, they're in such a good spot that they currently hold a full four game lead over the second place New York Mets. Wait, the Nationals and Mets are in contention in the NL East and it's July? Yep, believe it.

The National League Central is led by the Cincinnati Reds, one of the favorites to win the pennant. The Reds hold just a single game lead over the Pittsburgh Pirates. What's with all these historically bad teams somehow holding their own? The infusion of young talent based with no real team stepping up and being dominant has allowed many teams to stay close. The Pirates and Reds are great examples. The Reds are a 3/1 odd to win the National League while the Pirates are at 17/1. Yet the two are only separated by just a single game in the loss column.

Odds to win National League: Los Angeles Dodgers 13/4, Washington Nationals 17/4, San Fransisco Giants 13/2, Cincinnati Reds 3/1, St. Louis Cardinals 8/1, Atlanta Braves 8/1, Philadelphia Phillies 11/1, Miami Marlins 13/1, New York Mets 17/1, Pittsburgh Pirates 17/1, Arizona Diamondbacks 20/1, Milwaukee Brewers 40/1, Colorado Rockies 125/1, Houston Astros 200/1, San Diego Padres 400/1 and Chicago Cubs 400/1
