2012 Wimbledon Third Round: David Ferrer vs. Andy Roddick Start Time, Odds and Picks

Third Round action continues at Wimbledon tomorrow as seventh seeded David Ferrer squares off against Andy Roddick on Centre Court. Saturday’s match between the Spaniard and American has a scheduled start time of 6:00am EST. 2012 Wimbledon Odds and Picks at offshore bookmaker BetOnline.ag have Ferrer, the ATP’s fifth ranked player, listed as a -225 moneyline favorite ($225 to win $100); he is a -4 against the spread play at -116 odds ($116 to win $100). Roddick is drawing +195 odds ($195 to win $100) to win outright and 1-1 odds to finish within four games of Ferrer.

The majority of Andy Roddick’s 2012 season has been anything but notable, but the three time Wimbledon finalist did secure his first title of the season earlier this month. Roddick defeated Italy’s Andreas Seppi in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 to take the championship match at the grass courts of Eastbourne in Great Britain.

Roddick’s solid play at the AEGON International has carried over to Wimbledon with the 2003 U.S. Open winner defeating his first two opponents in straight sets. The Omaha native dispatched Britain’s Jamie Baker 7-6 (7-1), 6-4, 7-5 in the first round as he produced 14 aces and 54 winners, and he powered his way past Bjorn Phau 6-3, 7-6 (7-1), 6-2 in round two. Roddick had 30 winners to Phau’s 41, but he committed 14 fewer unforced errors (11 to 25) than his German adversary.

David Ferrer, a semi-finalist at Roland Garros, is looking to advance to the fourth round at Wimbledon for a third consecutive year. Ferrer, who has four singles titles this season (one hard, two clay, and one grass), knocked off Germany’s Dustin Brown 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, 6-4 in the opening round, and he defeated Kenny De Schepper of France 7-6 (7-1), 6-2, 6-4 on Thursday to earn a 11th career meeting with Roddick.

Ferrer, who is seeking his first career major championship, owns a 6-4 record against Roddick, but the pair has never met on a grass surface. The last match between Ferrer and Roddick came at the quarterfinals of the Shanghai Rolex Masters in October of 2011; the Spaniard won the contest 6-7, 6-2, 7-6. Ferrer’s six wins over Roddick have come by an average of 4.5 games.

2012 Wimbledon Third Round Odds David Ferrer vs. Andy Roddick

David Ferrer -4 Games (-116), Over 39.5 Games (-116), -225 (Moneyline)

Andy Roddick +4 Games (+100), Under 39.5 Games (+100), +195 (Moneyline)
