NASCAR Quaker State 400 Predictions, Odds and Start Time

The 17th race of the NASCAR Sprint Cup season, the Quaker State 400, is slated for Saturday, June 30th at the Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Kentucky; the event, which has a scheduled start time of 6:30pm ET, will be broadcast live on TNT. Quaker State 400 Predictions at Sportsbook.ag have five-time Sprint Cup Champion Jimmie Johnson listed as 5-1 favorite to win his third race of the season. NASCAR Odds at the offshore bookmaker have Kyle Busch listed as a 7-1 second pick while Greg Biffle, Matt Kenseth, and Tony Stewart are all drawing 8-1 odds to be the first to take the checkered flag.

The Kentucky Speedway, a 1.5 mile tri-oval, debuted on the Sprint Cup circuit last year, but Kyle Busch’s performance at the race track gave every indication that he felt right at home there. Busch dominated last year’s Quaker State 400, leading 125 of the 267 laps, but, more importantly, he led the final lap to win the lion’s share of a $4,925,697 purse.

Despite Busch’s dominant 2011 showing at Kentucky, it makes sense that the odds makers prefer Jimmie Johnson on Saturday. Johnson placed third at the event last year after a fifth place start, and he is red hot coming into this weekend’s race. The California native, who presently sits fourth in the Sprint Cup Series point standings (25 points back of leader Matt Kenseth), has two wins and nine top five finishes this season.

Busch, who holds the first Wild Card spot in the Chase for the Cup, has been solid as well, but not as consistent as Johnson, recording seven top 10 finishes in the first 16 races.

Qualifying could prove critical to Saturday’s run as, according to NASCAR.com, 11 of the 25 national-series races winners at Kentucky Speedway had a front row start. Qualifying for this weekend’s race is scheduled for 3:30pm ET on Friday, June 29th; it can be seen live on the SPEED Network.

Odds to Win the Quaker State 400:

Jimmie Johnson +500, Kyle Busch +700, Greg Biffle +800, Matt Kenseth +800, Tony Stewart +800, Carl Edwards +1000, Denny Hamlin +1000, Kasey Kahne +1200, Dale Earnhardt Jr. +1200, Kevin Harvick +1200, Jeff Gordon +1200, Brad Keselowski +1500, Clint Bowyer +2500, Martin Truex Jr. +2500, Joey Logano +3000, Ryan Newman +4000, AJ Allmendinger +5000, Kurt Busch +6000, Jamie McMurray +10000, Michael Waltrip +10000, Paul Menard +10000, Jeff Burton +10000, Aric Almirola +10000, Regan Smith +10000, Bobby Labonte +10000, David Ragan +10000, David Gilliland +10000, Juan Pablo Montoya +10000, Marcos Ambrose +10000
