The 2012 World Series Odds currently have the New York Yankees and the Texas Rangers as the favorites at 5/1, courtesy of the Las Vegas Hotel (formerly the Las Vegas Hilton). Several teams that were tabbed to be contenders this season in Major League Baseball and several of those squads have already fallen on their faces so far. However, there still is just under 100 games to be played by each team so there is plenty of season left to be played.

Both the Yankees and the Rangers are sitting in first place in their respective divisions and currently hold the two best records on baseball. The other American League division leader, the Chicago White Sox, currently have a 25/1 odds to win the World Series. The Detroit Tigers were figured to be one of the better teams in baseball entering the 2012 season once they signed Prince Fielder, but they are still struggling at the early part of the year. The Tigers still are getting a lot of love from Las Vegas oddsmakers, sitting at 12/1 to win the World Series. Those are not bad odds for a team that is 2 games out of first place in the American League Central. However, many experts are tabbing the Tigers as a team to watch out for in the next few months.

In the National League, the teams with the best odds to win the World Series are the Central Division Cincinnati Reds and West Division leading Los Angeles Dodgers, both at 8/1 odds. The Washington Nationals, who currently lead the National League East by 3.5 games, have been tabbed at 10/1 odds to win the World Series. Yes, those Washington Nationals.
