Free Analysis: The New York Mets are looking to avoid the sweep by the Yankees on Sunday after having lost the first two games in the series. On Saturday Omar Quinttenilla and David Wright each hit home runs and Lucas Duda added a hit as the Mets scored twice on eight hits for the game. On the mound Dillon Gee allowed five hits and three earned runs while striking out five over seven innings to take his fourth loss of the year. For Sunday’s game the Mets start Jon Niese who has won his last two decisions. Jonathon is 4-2 with a 4.11 ERA overall and 2-2 with a 4.60 ERA, but he has pitched very well in day games with a 3-0 mark and a 2.35 ERA in his 6 day starts. This is Jon's best month as he is 8-1 with a 2.66 ERA in 11 career starts durng the month of June. Mark Teixeira and Curtis Granderson both had home runs and Derek jeter, Ronison Cano, and Alex Rodriguez had hits as the Yankees scored four runs on six hits in Saturday's win. On the mound Phil Hughes allowed six hits and two earned runs while striking out six over 6.1 innings for his sixth win of the year while Rafael Soriano earned his ninth save. On Sunday the Yankees start Andy Pettitte who still looks to have plenty in the tank. Pettite is 3-2 with a 2.78 ERA overall and 3-1 with a 1.88 ERA at home. For his career Andy is 8-5 with a 3.69 ERA in 19 starts vs the Mets, while the Yanks are 6-1 in his last 7 starts vs them. The Yankees are 6-1 in their last seven home games, 4-1 in their last five game three of a series, and 10-4 in Pettitte’s last 14 home starts against a team with a winning record. The Mets are 5-1 in their last six game three of a series, 1-5 in their last six games overall, and 4-1 in Niese’s last five starts as a road underdog at +151 odds or higher.
Free Pick: We are gonna look to the Over in this one. Couple of good trends to support this play as well. The OVER is 20-8-1 in Met road games this year, including 10-0 OVER on the road when they take on a lefty. For the year the OVER is an amazing 18-2-1 when the Mets have faced a lefty this year, plus the OVER is 8-1-1 in a Met game with two lefties on the mound. Tough trends to buck for sure. Met road games this year have averaged 10.5 rpg and that's thanks mainly to a staff that has a 5.27 ERA on the road, including a horrible 6.48 ERA from their pen. The Mets do score better on the road and we know that the Yanks can score in bunches as well. This one should hit 10 with ease.
