With West Virginia gone to the Big 12, college football odds makers are projecting Cincinnati and Louisville, two of last season’s top three finishers, to again top the Big East standings. The latest 2012 Big East Football Championship Odds have the Bearcats and Cardinals both listed at +250 odds to win the eight team conference. Coming in a close second on the odds leaderboard is South Florida, which is presently registering at +300 on the moneyline (risk $100 to win $300).
Big East Favorites
Cincinnati Bearcats (+250): The Bearcats are coming off a 10-3 campaign that ended with a 31-24 Liberty Bowl win over Vanderbilt; however, they return just 12 starters and lose their two biggest offensive playmakers in quarterback Zach Collaros and running back Isaiah Pead.
Louisville Cardinals (+250): Head Coach Charlie Strong has successfully guided the Cardinals out of Steve Kragthrope induced dark ages (Louisville has finished 7-6 each of the past two years), but they need to take the next step this season. With 14 starters and 47 lettermen back, Louisville certainly looks like a threat to build on last year’s strong regular season finish (5-1 last six games) and, perhaps, claim the Big East title.
South Florida Bulls (+300): The Bulls got off to a hot start last season, jumping out to a 4-0 record, but they faded down the stretch and wound up seventh in the Big East standings with a 1-6 conference record. Odds makers are expecting a bounce back from USF, which returns 18 starters and 45 lettermen.
