NBA Playoffs Odds: 76ers vs. Celtics Picks, Predictions and Spread

The NBA Playoffs continue Wednesday night in Game 6 between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics. The NBA Playoff odds for the game have the 76ers favored by 1.5 points. The game is scheduled for a 8:00 pm start time and it will be televised live on ESPN. The spread shows that bookmakers have a prediction of a close win for the 76ers at home.

Picks: The Celtics picked up a huge win in Game 5 on Monday night and did it in impressive fashion, picking up their second 16-point beatdown of Philly in the series. Philadelphia's two wins in the series have both been really close games. There's something to be said for that. In addition, neither of the two teams have won consecutive games in this series, so there might be something going there for the 76ers tonight. In addition to that, there is also more good news for the 76ers. Philadelphia is 4-0 this postseason in games following a loss. However, there no way to determine what will happen tonight based on past events. That's a given. The team seems to be pretty edgy right now as well. "We're on the edge right now," Sixers forward Elton Brand said. "There's no comfortable feelings anywhere around here." By rights the 76ers probably shouldn't even be down a game in this series. The 76ers led by six points in the third quarter Monday before Boston scored 14 of the next 16 points overall. That huge run at the end of the third and beginning of the fourth quarters put the game on ice early for the Celtics, who took advantage of the Sixers in a vulnerable spot. Paul Pierce had 16 points in the win and connected on each of his nine free throws. Brandon Bass scored 18 in the third quarter and had a career playoff-high 27 points. Kevin Garnett tossed in 20 points and Rajon Rondo scored 13 points and handed out 14 assists for the Celtics. Sixers guard Jrue Holiday said he's looking at Game 6 as "kind of like the end of the world." That seems a bit on the dramatic side, but at least we know Philadelphia is taking this game seriously. Garnett has been talking trash about Philadelphia fans, calling them "fair-weathered" but the Celtics blew a massive 18-point lead during Game 4 there a few nights ago. I'm going to assume the Sixers fans are going to remember that.

Prediction: I think Philly can win this game, but the oddsmakers are keeping the line close to even at just under a basket for them. We like backing home teams that are on the brink of elimination and all we need in this game tonight is a 2-point win to cover the spread. The Celtics have played extremely well in two of their three wins in this series, winning each of those games by 16 points. The Sixers have won all four of their games after getting beat in this post season, so maybe that plays into our advantage tonight as well. I don't think the Celtics will get to a high number overall and I think the defenses will determine who wins this game tonight. I'll take the home team that is only 48 minutes from having their season come to an end. Sixers 88, Celtics 84
