Offshore odds makers are not expecting a repeat performance from the reigning Super Bowl champion New York Giants in 2013, at least according to the latest New York Giants 2013 Super Bowl XLVII Odds. Tom Coughlin’s crew, a championship afterthought headed into December of last year, is presently listed at +1500 moneyline odds (ranks eight of 32 teams) to retain the Lombardi Trophy. The Giants are not even favored to win the NFC East as that distinction belongs to last season’s biggest disappointment, the Philadelphia Eagles (+120). New York and Dallas are both drawing +220 odds (risk $100 to win $220) to capture what figures to be a hotly contested division title.
Maybe it’s the inconsistent play that characterized the majority of the New York Giants 2011 regular season. Maybe it’s the team’s killer 2012 schedule, which features two games each with division foes Philadelphia and Dallas as well as meetings with the San Francisco 49ers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers, Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, and Baltimore Ravens. Whatever the reason, Vegas based Cantor Gaming, which released points spreads for the entire 2012 NFL regular season with the exception of Week #17, only has Eli Manning and his cohorts favored in seven of 15 games.
Book maker BetOnline.com seems to have a bit more faith in the defending champs, setting the Giants regular season win total at 10 wins; however, the offshore entity has the Under 10 wins favored at -125 odds (risk $125 to win $100). The Over 10 wins is drawing -105 odds.
