2012 NFL Draft Betting Odds

http://nflricheisen.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/nfl-draft-logo.jpg?w=450&h=300&crop=1

The NFL Draft begins on Thursday night LIVE. It will be televised nationally on ESPN with complete First Round coverage and an 8:00 p.m. start time. The Draft will also see action on Friday and Saturday with later round coverage on ESPN.

Pregame.com CEO RJ Bell has compiled several odds and bet scenarios for the upcoming event. In the first ten picks of the draft, several players are odds-on favorites to be selected in that particular spot. However, the No. 1 and No. 2 spots cannot be bet on, because both Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III are essentially shoe-ins to be picked at those respective spots. The Colts have already announced that they will be selecting Luck with the top overall spot, taking over as the Peyton Manning era comes to an end in Indianapolis. Robert Griffin III has been talked about as being the franchise-type QB the Redskins are looking for and it's presumed that they will be drafting him in that.

Listed below are the pick number and player with the best odds to be selected in that position.

#1 pick: Andrew Luck (so certain can’t bet on)
#2 pick: Robert Griffin III (so certain can’t bet on)
#3 pick: Matt Kalil
#4 pick: Trent Richardson
#5 pick: Morris Claiborne
#6 pick: Justin Blackmon
#7 pick: Melvin Ingram
#8 pick: Ryan Tannehill
#9 pick: Fletcher Cox
#10 pick: Riley Reiff

Bell has also come up with several other odds for the Draft that involve percentages fitting to the criteria. They are listed below with a percentage of the event happening and the specific event that could happen.

There is a 20% chance of FOUR or more QBs taken in the first round.

There is a 23% chance Minnesota Vikings will trade #3 pick.

There is a 32% chance THREE or more LSU players taken in the first round.

There is a 45% chance Mike Adams will be drafted in the first round.

There is a 46% chance SIX or more linebackers will be taken in the first round.

There is a 50% chance Ryan Tannehill will be the 8th pick in the draft.

There is a 62% Brandon Weeden will be drafted #37 or later.

There is a 68% chance only ONE running back taken in the first round.

There is a 72% chance of FIVE or more Alabama players taken in the first round.

The above bet with the best chance of happening is obviously that five or more Alabama players will be selected in the first round. If that is to be true, it means a player from the Crimson Tide will be taken on average of every six picks. Aside from that, the Minnesota Vikings have been in talks about whether or not they should move the No. 3 pick in the draft to potentially move down and scoop up more picks. There is a 23% betting chance of that happening.

Several online books as well as sportsbooks in Las Vegas will be taking a ton of action on the NFL Draft. Be sure to check back at Pregame.com for more information regarding the Draft in the next two days.
