The NBA Playoffs are just around the corner as 16 teams will attempt to play their way to the NBA Finals. The Miami Heat seem to be the odds-on favorites to win the NBA Title this season with several other quality clubs just behind them. The NBA is one of the most bet on sports in the United States and with the playoffs close to getting underway, betting will only pick up from where it is now.
A total of eight teams in each conference qualify for the post season. Each team that wins their division overall automatically qualifies (three in each conference) and then the next five teams record wise also make the playoffs. The first seeds play the eighth seeds, second play the seventh seeds and so on.

The Miami Heat are considered by oddsmakers to be the team with the best chance to win the NBA Championship this season at +165 (Risk $100 to win $165). Only four teams currently have odds that are less than 15/1 in the Heat, Thunder, Bulls and Spurs. Outside of that, each team that is expected to make the post season is much higher than 15/1 odds, other than the Los Angeles Lakers, who are at 15/1 to win the NBA title.
Teams that are in the toward the bottom of the above list virtually have no chance to claim the NBA Title. The Bucks were 125/1 to navigate their way from the opening round of the playoffs to hoisting the trophy at the end, but they since have been eliminated from playoff contention. The Utah Jazz, Houston Rockets and Phoenix Suns are all 95/1.
Currently there are seven teams in each conference that have already clinched a playoff spot. The No. 8 position is open in both conferences but are being held at the moment by the Philadelphia 76ers in the East and the Utah Jazz in the West. The 76ers have all but locked up the final spot in the East, holding a 3 game lead over the Milwaukee Bucks. In the West, both the Suns and Rockets are battling the Jazz for the final spot. Both teams are withing striking distance.
The above odds for the NBA Championship will change based on who makes the post season. It will also change in the future based on which teams are eliminated as the playoffs continue to march on toward the finals.
