Daytona 500 Start Time

The Great American Race has been postponed for the first time in it's history, but it looks like it's going to get underway. The Daytona 500 is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. EST on Monday and it will be televised nationally on FOX. The race was scheduled to take place on Sunday, but rain showers caused it to be postponed for the first time ever. Originally the race was re-scheduled for a Monday start time of noon, but more rain caused it to be pushed back again.

The Daytona 500 has a start time of 7 p.m. Monday. "We hope to have 'Lady and gentlemen, start your engines,' at 7:02 and then warm up and go to green flag," NASCAR President Mike Helton said. "We believe this is a reasonable expectation." Carl Edwards, runner-up to Tony Stewart in last year's championship race, will start from the pole. Former IndyCar star Danica Patrick will make her Daytona 500 debut, which is much anticipated. If NASCAR gets the race in Monday night, it could be looking at some major numbers, maybe even record-setting numbers. Last season NASCAR had one of it's most compelling years ever and there were several crashed that happened this past weekend. Danica Patrick won the pole for the Nationwide race on Saturday and even that had multiple car wrecks. NASCAR could cash in very nicely tonight, being the only major sporting event on television and doing so on a basic cable network. That is, if they get the race in.
