Wednesday Night College Football Ohio at Bowling Green Start Time, Free Pick

College football on Wednesday night will see the Ohio Bobcats travel to play the Bowling Green Falcons. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 kickoff and will be televised nationally on ESPN. The Bobcats, even on the road, are favored by 7 points with the total set at 59.5. Ohio is currently sitting in first place atop the East Division of the MAC while Bowling Green is a cellar dweller at just 2-4 on the season. Ohio has won three straight games after suffering back-to-back tough losses to Buffalo and Ball State by a combined four points. Bowling Green is just 1-5 in their last six games, with the only win coming over Temple in shocking 13-10 fashion.

Free Analysis: The totals have continued to go up and up in the MAC the past couple of weeks in these crazy weekday games. Tonight is no exception as the total is set close to 60 points when the two squads average 57 points per game combined, so there is a little bit of inflation going on here. Ohio has proven it's a very good football team up to this point in the season, winning four of six conference tilts and their only non-conference defeat coming to Rutgers on the road. Offensively the Bobcats are a pretty fair and balanced team. They run the football well and quarterback Tyler Tettleton is the real deal with 22 touchdowns to just six picks this season, throwing for nearly 2,500 yards already. He can also run the rock if needed with close to 400 yards on the ground and seven rushing TDs this season. Obviously it's a nationally televised game so that in itself brings a good amount of exposure to Bowling Green. I think both teams will be able to score points in this contest as that seems to always happen in these types of atmospheres. Last night's game between Northern Illinois and Miami (OH) is just another example of that in the MAC. Statistically, Tettleton is coming off his worst efficiency game of the season where he threw 22 passes and completed just 15 of them. However, terrible conditions led to that, but he was still able to throw for more than 200 yards and two scores. Bowling Green is coming off back-to-back losses. The Falcons will need to get some consistent action from sophomore quarterback Matt Schilz tonight. He's thrown 21 touchdowns to 10 interceptions this year. Bowling Green is just 4-5 on the season and has struggled by giving up nearly 30 points per game. However, they throw the ball well because they are behind most of the game, so I think at home they can hang around with Ohio in this contest. The Bobcats have won three in a row but they have let their opponents hang around a little bit. A team at home that is allowed to stay in the game could be dangerous.

Free Pick: Bowling Green obviously has nothing to play for so this game is going to be big for them. It's on national TV so it's almost like a bowl game for them. They're getting more than a touchdown at home and I think that's a pretty good play. If Bowling Green doesn't turn the ball over and can take advantage when they have the ball, I think they can cover the number here.
