World Series Game 7 Start Time, Free Pick

http://mlblogs2131andbeyond.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/worldseries2011.jpeg

Game 7 of the World Series is scheduled for Friday night in St. Louis. The St. Louis Cardinals are favored in the game at -130 (Risk $130 to win $100) while the Texas Rangers sit at +120 (Risk $100 to take back $220) with the total set at 8 (over -115). Whoever wins tonight will take home the World Series after a crazy Game 6 that saw the Cardinals down to their last strike twice in extra innings only to come out on top with hometown hero David Freese winning it. It would be the first World Series crown for the Rangers.  First pitch for Friday's game is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. and the game will be televised nationally on FOX.

Free Analysis: With the extra inning matchup last night, tonight's game is going to have that electric feel from the start. Nevermind that it's a Game 7 (the first since 2002), after last night's contest St. Louis will be blowing up. The Cardinals have a huge advantage here tonight playing at home in the seventh and deciding game. Plus the place will be ready to go after last night's heroics. I'm anticipating a great game from both sides in this game, especially better defensive plays. In Game 6 we saw a ton of problems in the field and that was odd to see. I don't really think that's going to happen tonight. In fact, I'd be shocked if it continued. Chris Carpenter is going to take the hill in the most important game of his life. Carpenter will be throwing the third game in the last 10 days tonight. Getting the start tonight for the Rangers will be Matt Harrison, who has struggled a bit in this postseason. Both bullpens are fried so far and I'd expect both starter to have to go deep into the game. I'd be shocked if the bullpen was used as much as it has for both teams to this point in the Series. In fact, if either team has to go to their bullpen early, it might be a very bad thing. Whatever starter can go deep into the game will have a major advantage in this game. I'd expect each lineup to continue to hit the ball well as each lineup is hot. I know there are injuries to Nelson Cruz, Mike Napoli, etc., but I expect a nice offensive output from both clubs.

Free Pick: I'm taking the Cardinals in this game. I thought if they won Game 6 that Texas would be in a very bad spot. That obviously came to be as the Cardinals won in extra innings last night. I don't have much faith in either bullpen at this point so whichever starter throws better SHOULD win this game for his team. Both managers might have to stick with their starters for a lot longer than they had planned tonight. I'm expecting a 7-5 Cardinals win.
