Current Preakness Odds for 2011 (updated)

Current Preakness Odds: 2011 Preakness Stakes Betting

The current 2011 Preakness Stakes betting odds as of this morning are listed below and Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom is still the current favorite at 2-1. The 136th running of the Preakness is today at Pimlico in Baltimore, Maryland with television coverage beginning on NBC at 4:30 ET and a post time of 6:18 ET.

1- Astrology (15-1 (updated odds 16-1)): Probably not talented enough to win the Preakness, but has been in the money in all seven of his starts. A must look for exotic wagering.
2- Norman Asbjornson (30-1 (updated odds 32-1): Even though each race was an improvement over the last, still has yet to win any stakes race. Very doubtful that his first big win will be at a race like the Preakness.
3- King Congie (20-1 (updated odds 24-1): Since his debut, his Beyer Rating has improved in each race. Despite the continued improvement, he has not faired well on dirt, which of course is the surface at Pimlico.
4- Flashpoint (20-1 (updated odds 20-1)): A new trainer and overall inexperience for this horse going into Saturday has him one of the first ponies scratched off our list of choices.
5- Shackleford (12-1 (updated odds 12-1)): Up until the eighth pole he was leading the Kentucky Derby before tiring out and ending up in 4th. With a shorter distance at the Preakness he has a great shot to be in the money and possibly pull the upset.
6- Sway Away (15-1 (updated odds 10-1)): A quick horse with one of the top Beyer Speed Figures of the year at 101. The downside is that his speed has yet to equate to a win in any race past five furlongs.
7- Midnight Interlude (15-1 (updated odds 15-1)): Outside of having Bob Baffert as a trainer, we can't back him based on multiple higher quality horses in the field.
8- Dance City (12-1 (updated odds 15-1)): We love this horse in all exotic wagering. Most of his 2nd and 3rd place finishes came to great horses and if you watch his performace at the Arkansas Derby you see why this horse has a great chance on Saturday.
9- Mucho Macho Man (6-1 (updated odds 9-2)): A popular pick at the Kentucky Derby, his experience alone has him listed in most exotic wagers along with some W/P/S money.
10- Dialed In (9-2 (updated odds 4-1)): The Kentucky Derby favorite fell victim to one of the slowest paces in the history of the race. Expect a much better shower on Saturday at the Preakness with a solid shot to win it all.
11- Animal Kingdom (2-1(updated odds 2-1)): From dog to favorite after a dominating performance at the Kentucky Derby. A great horse coming in with all the momentum, but hard to go crazy with only getting 2-1.
12- Isn't He Perfect (30-1 (updated odds 30-1)): The average rating of the Preakness winner is a 108 Beyer. His highest? 84. Cross him off the list.
13- Concealed Identity (30-1 (updated odds 30-1)): Already racing at Pimlico is a huge plus for a 30-1 horse, but his Beyer history is not even in the same universe it should be for this field.
14- Mr. Commons (20-1 (updated odds 30-1)): Not very impressive against weak competition, difficult to back this horse against a quality field that will be at the Preakness Stakes.

Comment below:  Based on the updated Preakness betting odds fro Saturday, does this change any of your wager choices?
