Coming out of the #19 post position, Nehro should be in love with the 1 1/4 mile distance at the Kentucky Derby. After coming up just short in his last two races (Arkansas Derby on 4/16 & Louisiana Derby on 3/26) on tracks 1/8 mile shorter, many in the horse racing betting circles feel his late speed could put him in a spot to win this race.
With an opening morning line of 6-1, Nehro is only behind Dialed In and Uncle Mo in the favorites role at the Kentucky Derby. Sitting in the 19th position is not a favorable spot to be in, but in his 5-furlong work out last week in the rain at Churchill Downs Nehro was quite impressive in the slop at 1:02.80. With only one win in his career over five races, his last two outings were both impressive and has made this horse a Derby contender. The Kentucky Derby Post Time is 6:24pm EST, with a television start time of 4:00pm EST on NBC
Even though Nehro will be popular in exotic wagers, considering he has yet to beat a stakes-quality field it will be a major undertaking for that first quality win to be at the Kentucky Derby. At the same time, with what many experts call a "wide open field" there is always a chance his quick style could pull an upset down the stretch.
The Kentucky Derby is the first leg of the Triple Crown (with Breeders Cup and Preakness) and a "must win" for any horse looking to make history and win all three races. Visit www.KentuckyDerbyOdds.com
