960 Mia / 959 PIT Over 7 Pinnacle
double-dime bet
Analysis:
Miami will wrap-up their 4-game home series against Pittsburgh on Thursday night. The Marlins will start Justin Nicolino who owns a 3.77 ERA in five starts for Miami this season. Nicolino has just 11 strikeouts in 31 innings of work this season; a clear indication that plenty of balls are being put into play. The southpaw has a terrible 5.71 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in three home starts this season; he has allowed 11 earned runs on 20 hits in 17.1 innings of work at home. Nicolino has thrown 146 innings so far this year, and he is coming off a season high 101-pitch effort in his last start; he won’t be at his best in this game. Pittsburgh’s offense has scored 4 runs or more in three of last four games, and in seven of their last nine games overall. Overall, the Pirates are averaging 4.5 runs per game versus left-handed starters, so they will get to Nicolino in this game.
Pittsburgh will start Gerrit Cole in this game. Cole owns a poor 4.26 ERA in three career starts against Miami. In his last three outings against Miami, Cole has allowed 9 earned runs on 17 hits in 19 innings of work. Cole gave up seven hits in seven innings pitched at home to the Marlins back on May 27th. Cole does not come into this game in the best of form; he has given up 7 earned runs on 19 hits in his last 19 innings of work while earning a 1.33 WHIP in those outings. Miami’s offense has been terrific so far in this series against Pittsburgh. The Marlins have put-up 24 hits in the three games so far, and they will breakout in this game, especially since they’ve had success against Cole in the past. We expect a high-scoring game between the Pirates and Marlins on Thursday night.
