Analysis:
5:20PM EST - And there is also a fair bit of noise on the Phillies. I know, I know. But, if I had to bet the Phillies RL - it's probably not the worst bet in the world, IMO.
Both teams get to three here - Kuechel has shown SOME vulnerability and although Walker hsa been very good lately, Houston has hit him in the past. Roof should be open - Tripp Gibson (behind the plate) is trending to the over lately - neither bullpen overly impressive.
In other games, and we may or may not add:
The early money is on the Pirates it appears. I just don't know about fading Max right now - but if I did play that one it'd be under and following any red-flag money.
I have no really good feel for the Reds game. I did watch a fair bit of Harens game last night - neither team is really hitting - the instinctive thing to want to do in that stadium is take the over - the early money is on the under - 9 is a super-key number - that COULD be a setup for later.
The initial reaction would be to take Colorado since Bettis is (can be) far better than Lohse and people will doubt Milwaukee can win two in a row. As tough as it is to take over-inflated "overs" in that park - this could well be another high scoring game.
Sooner or later the Phillies will score and perhaps win. Harang is obviously their best option - and as bad as they are and as good as the Cardinals are - I won't lay that price on the road. So if you made me, the Phillies RL.
I feel reasonably confident the Dodgers game goes over again, since the Giants have simply been much better offensively on the road. I can't fade them - so Giants RL and over if you made me. And I might.
Ray has been stellar for the D-Backs but early on the Padres are getting a lot of action. I do like San Diego much better against LHP - but I do like the under at the moment, and there's enough sharp action on the Padres for me to at least (at this point) NOT take Arizona.
I'm not sure I want much to do with the Jays game after the BS last night. Toronto is pissed and Baltimore HAD been mashing the ball. The obviously know Buerhle well - it's hard for me to get behind Buerhle - but that may be the play. Gausman has to be limited in pitch count is the main reason. Maybe the square over in that one.
I like Texas because I like what Martinez CAN do and the White Sox just suck. Rodon IS the better pitcher, but.....so was DeGrom.
People will probably be betting the Oakland over after last nights' game - I don't know about that, and lean under. I do like Hahn better than Weaver (much better, actually) - but the Halos have to be supremely confident after last night - and that matters.
I am still not fading the Rays - but I won't go crazy fading Kluber, either. Like the under.
Surprisingly the money this morning is on the Red Sox. Apparently they think Porcello os back to "normal" and that Volquez gets hit. Simply because the Royals saw so much of Porcello when he was with the Tigers - I can't follow the Boston money which would also be fading the Royals pen at home. That could mean a decent F5 bet on Boston, however.
I like Simon - he always shows up and is rested after only throwing five innings in a rain-delayed game. However, my hesitation is that perhaps I am on the wagon too late. Eovaldi's last game against Miami was brutal - but that was against his former team, on the road. Unless something changes, I could only back Detroit here. That also could be a F5 bet because I don't trust either bullpen.
The Twins are the sharp play this morning and I won't fade them at home against a LHP (which is quite likely the reason why nobody else with money is) - May has been "dependable" but my issues with him is that he can miss UP - so especially in a day game where the ball travels better, over, perhaps.
Here's my leans for tomorrow - love some of these of the numbers are right.
Reds over
Pirates
D-Backs
Rockies over
Toronto over
Boston under
Texas/Texas under
Halos
Astros/Astros under
Cubs under
Haven't looked at weather, umpires - todays' games effect tomorrow - and there are no lines yet, so don't take these as Gospel. Just sharing.
