Analysis:1* Take the Chicago Cubs
(#929)
My clients and I cashed a winning bet with the Cubs in their
17-0 win in Cleveland as underdogs on Wednesday. We’ve also cashed a handful of bets going
against the Twins in recent weeks. And with Chicago offering another plus price
return following a market move towards Minnesota this morning, the price is
right to get involved with the Cubs again tonight.
After their torrid run at home in May, the Twins are just
3-5 at Target Field this month; while being held to three runs or less in each
of their last seven. And there’s no
reason to think a below average offense for both speed and power is suddenly
going to get untracked today against Kyle Hendricks. The Cubs are 5-1 in Hendricks last six starts. He’s allowed more than two earned runs only
once in his last five outings, and his advanced metric numbers are rock solid.
Chicago has been winning on the highway all year. With the addition of yet another young
phenom, Kyle Schwarber, called up from Triple A to DH for this five game
stretch, Chicago’s lineup really is capable of putting up big numbers right now. Phil Hughes is no ace – a Twins team that is
six games over .500 is just 5-8 with Hughes on the hill. And Hughes flyball ways are bad news against Chicago’s
bevy of power bats. Behind him, the
Twins bullpen, like the rest of their team, is well below the league
average. Take the Cubs.
