956 STL / 955 SDP Under 7 William Hill
double-dime bet
Analysis:2:15pm ET - 11;10am PT / #956San Diego Padres w/ Despaigne@ St Louis Cardinals w/ Wainwright2** Play on: UNDER the TOTALTwo of the best UNDER teams in all of Major League Baseball... a great pitchers duel of HOT #1 hurlers for each respective team... and a low-scoring Man in Blue. Looks like another one of those 2-1, 3-1, or 4-2 final scores.Just so you know, there are THREE very good 'UNDER' Umpires going in MLB action today. Ed Hickox (6-14 O/U this year) is working the Baltimore / Cleveland game. We're not making a play on it based on the question marks of the current form of not one but TWO rookie starting pitchers (Gausman vs Salazar). Also, Clint Fagan (8-16 O/U is working the Toronto / Chicagi White sox game. We won't be playing on him either... with a high-scoring series history and two questionable starters going (Hutchison vs Carroll). So we will make a stand with the third best UNDER Umpire going on Sunday. That would be JAMES HOYE. He comes in with a 8-14 O/U record on the year. He comes in with a 0-2 O/U record in his last two games. His most recent was the Astros / Twins game four days ago. In that one, Oberholzer and Gibson had a great pitchers duel that was 0-0 thru five innings. Final score was 3 to 1 (UNDER cashed by 4 runs). Orior to that, it was the Tigers / Rockies game on August 1st, It was a less-than-stellar pitching matchup (Morales vs Verlander) that still went UNDER the Total of 9 runs (final score: 4 to 2).Hoye has saved his best LOW-scoring tendencies for NL games. While he has gone 5-5 O/U in the American League this year, he;s gone 2-5 O/U (71% UNDERS) in the National League with an average of just 6.0 combined RPG. In fact, Hoye has been the BEST National League UNDER Umpire over the last five seasons. He's gone 31-57-6 O/U in this 5-year span... with 65% of his games going UNDER. One can easily argue that each team's ACE will be toeing the rubber on Sunday. For San Diego, rookie Odrisamer Despaingne comes win with a 2.72 ERA on the season and a 1.24 WHIP. Since entering the rotation, Despaingne has had SIX starts (out of nine) in which he allowed 2 or less earned runs... and FIVE starts with ONE or less earned run allowed. And he comes off his BEST start of the season. He just worked 7 innings of SHUTOUT ball against the powerful Colorado Rockies offense five days ago in which he allowed only 5 hits and had a 8/2 K/BB ratio. For the host Cardinals, it's a no-brainer. Main Man Adam Wainwright will take to the hill with a 2.34 ERA for the season. He's allowed only TWO home runs in his last ten starts covering 68 innings. He's off two Quality Starts in a row in which BOTH went 'Under'. And he has a fantastic career record against the Padres. Wainwright has gone 5-2 in his career versus San Diego with a microscopic ERA of only 1.20. He has NEVER allowed more than 2 earned runs in any of those seven career starts.Ends Soon!
