Analysis:I have not been able to retrieve my initial write up on this game, so redoing it now.. Somehow I did not save for me when I first posted it.
When I put this up last night, there were a couple of 2.5's out there with some juice. I explained in my write up that if you can get off of a key number like 3, I don't mind paying a small price for it.
The theory here is much like the Dallas game. Houston comes into tonight after getting shutout 32-0 at Arizona. The Falcons come in off of a win in their home opener over Miami. Mike Smith is not a coach who puts a lot of stock into winning preseason games as evidenced by his 8-and-17 record SU. O'Brien on the other side, is a first year coach and I have to believe the pressure was on in practice this week to make amends for last week's embarrassment. Now, O'Brien is the new guy as mentioned but The Texans are 3-and-0 in Game Two of the preseason in recent years. This combined with the fact that it is the home opener and the ghad awful season this team had last year, the emphasis has to be on winning today. Again, like in the Dallas game, I feel we have two different mind sets from a coaching standpoint going in.. one that has a win under his belt and will use this to do more evaluating and another to needs to right the ship, right quick. For me, the NFL preseason is not much at all about breaking down teams, power ratings, and such but rather what is the situation and what is the coach's agenda. My read here is pretty clear cut on what the focus or lack thereof, is for these two opponents.
