dime bet 816 Wisconsin 1.5 (-110) Hilton vs 815 Kentucky
Results: W, $100
Analysis: Kentucky has chosen the right time for all that great young talent to gel. After underachieving for most of the regular season the WIldcats have played their best basketball since the start of the SEC Conference Tournament and enter this Final Four game vs Wisconsin having won 6 of its last 7 games but covering in all 7 -- the lone loss was a 1 point loss to Florida in the SEC Finals in which the 'Cats covered as 6 point pups. Wisky is also playing extremely well. The Badgers have won and covered all 4 games in this Tournament and following a mid season slump have won 13 of their last 15 games. Kentucky is the more talented team but also the less disciplined team despite the fine play of late. Wisconsin is also the better defensive team and although the defense is not at the level of past seasons that is largely due to Wisconsin being a much better offensive team this season and not having to rely solely on its defense and a preferred slower tempo half court game for its success. Coach Bo Ryan is noted for his defensive acumen and his team will be well prepared to throw some looks at Kentucky at appropriate times during the contest. Wisky also has been one of the nation's best teams in protecting the basketball and not turning it over. They also are deadly at the free throw line where they have a solid 74.3 % to 68.3 % edge which could be a factor during the end game. Wisconsin was my pick to reach the Final Four although I expected they would be facing Louisivlle. The Cards were eliminated by Kentucky in the Sweek 16 and have shown the basketball world they were grossly underseeded as an 8. Wisconsin deserved its 2 seed and although the public will likely be on Kentucky, don't sell the Badgers short. Wisky was one of only 2 teams to defeat Florida this season -- something Kentucky was unable to do in 3 tries (although the Wildcats did lose by just a point in the SEC Finals after losses of 19 and 10 points in their regular season meetings). Kentucky will present a challenge for the Badgers but coach Ryan has shown a great ability to make halftime and late game adjustments and there's every reason to believe he will be well prepared for Kentucky and will have some surprises that will frustrate the young Wildcats that will lead to Kentucky turnovers.
