dime bet 246 Texas A&M -12.0 (-110) Bookmaker.com vs 245 Duke
Results: L, -$110
Analysis: I'm laying the points with Texas A&M on Tuesday night. There's a phrase I haven't said often this bowl season, "I'm laying the points." But in this case, I believe the line is too short. While I respect Duke's performance this season, they're just in a tough spot in this one. The Blue Devils allowed 38 (Ga Tech), 58 (Pitt), and 45 points (Florida St.) in their three losses. The defense heads into this one ranked 70th and 76th in yards passing allowed and yards rushing allowed, adding up to over 408 total yards allowed per game to opposing offenses. They simply don't match-up well with A&M's high-powered offense and if there was any thought of a lack of motivation for the Aggies, it can be put to rest, knowing Johnny Manziel could be playing his final game for Texas A&M. Manziel has already said if he's a first-round draft prospect, he will declare for the draft next spring. Going out with a bang on a big primetime stage certainly will motivate the former Heisman winner. Manziel threw for 287 yards and ran for another 229 yards in A&M's 41-13 blowout win over Oklahoma in last season's Cotton Bowl. He's even more mature as a leader on the field in 2013. The Aggies are loaded at WR and if you include Manziel, they have five players with at least 269 yards rushing on the season. This will be the second most potent offense Duke has seen this season and we saw what happened against the first, getting smacked 45-7 by Florida State. A&M averages 7 yards per play, a bad omen for Duke. With David Cutcliffe as HC, the Blue Devils are 0-8 ATS away from home against teams that average at least 6.25 yards per play, losing those games by an average score of 43-14. Meanwhile, the Aggies are on a 6-1 ATS run off a SU loss and will be looking to end the season on a high note after dropping their final two games of the regular season. Duke gave up 48 points and 554 yards in a 48-34 loss to Cincinnati in the Belk Bowl last season. While they're making strides, I do believe this game marks more "growing pains" for the program. I'm laying the points with Texas A&M on Tuesday. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.
