Analysis: PLAY:  PITTSBURGH -1.5 RUNS
RATING: DOUBLE DIME PLAY

This is a classic play for me as the Pirates come off a loss in the first game back at home following a road trip. I have stated numerous times what a negative situation that is for the home team. However in game 2 it becomes a high percentage play. Also Houston as a Big Dog has been horrible as they are just 5-31 this year when a dog of +175 or more. In those 36 games they have lost by an average score of 6.1-2.6 per game. That is one of the reasons I'm confident to lay the -1.5 Runs instead of the huge money line. Houston starter Lyles has made 18 starts as a underdog this year and Houston is 2-16 in his starts losing by an average of 6.6 - 2.9 runs per game. Pittsburgh is 12-3 this year at home following a game in which they scored 1 run or less. Finally the last and maybe the most important reason for this play is the fact that Pirate starter Rodriguez is on the mound tonight. He has finally put together back to back good efforts since being traded to the Pirates including shutting out St Louis in his last start going 6 innings and scattering 3 hits. He is also facing his former team for the second time but the first time in his new home Pittsburgh so I expect a huge effort from him. Houston starter Lyles has faced the Pirates 3 times in his career and has a ERA of 8.04 in those 3 starts. Pirates in a BLOWOUT 5-2.
