Analysis: I'm backing Arizona on Sunday afternoon in a battle of lefthanders. Wade Miley takes the bump for the Diamondbacks and he has been on his game most of the season, including his last three starts, allowing just 4 earned runs and 20 base runners in 21 IP. Miley hasn't allowed a home run in his last five starts and he owns a 2.53 ERA & 1.08 WHIP in three starts against the Dodgers in 2012. His counterpart today will be Chris Capuano. The Dodger lefty has allowed 5 earned runs or more in four of his last seven starts. He's been tagged for 12 earned runs and 16 base runners in his last two starts, covering 11 innings. And Capuano has been smacked around by Arizona for 10 earned runs, 19 base runners, and 3 HRs in his last two starts against them, spanning 11 innings. Arizona won both games, outscoring L.A. by a 15-3 combined score. The "Snakes" are on an 8-1 run against the Dodgers and they're 4-0 when Miley is installed as an underdog of +1.50 or smaller. Meanwhile, the Dodgers are on a 0-8 slide at home against teams that allow no more than 4.3 rpg and they're also 0-8 with Capuano priced from even-money to -1.25 (L.A. is -1.23 at the time of my release). Those last three situations combine for a 20-0 mark. I'm backing the under-valued Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday. Thanks! GL! Scott.
