Analysis: Despite getting rocked in his first career start as a Ranger, waiver deadline acquisition Ryan Dempster takes the hill tonight with his 15.43 ERA. The good news is the veteran right hander received a no-decision in his first start with his new club, and can make up for it tonight with a win on the road in Boston. Jon Lester has not been good this season, and has traditionally been their number one starter in the last few seasons. He has not been a number one starter this year and is 0-2 in his last three starts with an ERA of 9.00 and has a 5-9 record. The Red Sox are only 8-14 in each of his starts, and we will back the visiting Rangers to take this one.
The Rangers had won four straight before losing and missing out on a sweep of KC, then losing the opener to Boston last night. The Rangers still lead the league in hitting thanks to Adrian Beltre hitting .310 and Josh Hamilton blasting 29 HR and 90 RBI. We will side with the big bat underdogs this evening, take the Rangers.
