Analysis: I'm backing the NY Yankees on Sunday afternoon. I've explained in the past that sometimes there is value with laying a price like this one. C.C. Sabathia and the Yankees give us the perfect example. The Yanks are on a 24-3 run when Sabathia is listed as a favorite from -1.51 to -2.00, including a 19-3 mark on the road. NY is on a 6-1 run in his last seven starts where the big righty owns a 2.59 ERA & 1.29 WHIP. Sabathia and A's starter Bartolo Colon "faced off" on May 26 in Oakland, resulting in a 9-2 Yankee win. The Yankee veteran slammed the door on the A's, which is quite the norm. He's faced the A's at Oakland Coliseum four times since 2009 and holds a 2.35 ERA & 1.14 WHIP in those outings. Colon got rocked in the May meeting and has been saddled with a 6.30 ERA & 1.53 WHIP in 14 career appearances against New York. And while the Yanks are on that 24-3 run mentioned above, the A's are on a 0-4 slide as a home dog in the same line range. And finally, the Yanks are on a 43-17 run when Sabathia toes the rubber against teams with a winning record. So, for those reasons, I will lay a bigger than normal price with the Yankees on Sunday.
