At 6 PM EST on the
Big 10 network the Purdue Boilermakers (15-9, 11-11 ATS & 6-5
ATS at home host the Northwestern Wildcats (15-8, 9-9 ATS & 4-4
ATS on the road). In the first meeting between these two teams,
Purdue won in Evanston, Illinois by "2' on a clutch Robbie Hummel
jumper literally at the buzzer. In that game Purdue succeeded in
turning over NW "16" times, their most for the year for the team
that is #1 in the nation in turnover to assist margin. They did
that by playing a small lineup with Robbie Hummel at center, which
created a real tough matchup for the Wildcats, and enabled Purdue
with the better athletes to contest all cuts, passes and drives. NW
is the worst rebounding team in the Big 10, but did outrebound the
small Boilermaker lineup in the first game. What to do, rebound
better, or go small and handle the ball better? Your choice
Northwestern. It should be noted that Purdue is the #2 ranked team
in the nation, behind NW in assist to turnover ratio, and last week
against Indiana only turned the ball over "3' times, a tie for the
best in their total history. Purdue is 6-2 ATS this season after a
loss, and NW is 2-4 ATS in their last "6" on the road and 1-3-1 ATS
in their last "5" road games at Purdue. Finally PU is 10-3 SU at
home, and clearly has the better athletes, even if their inside
game is average. Power rated @ -14
