Allright...we got our AFC 5* FUTURE OF THE YEAR out of the way last week...So now it's time to release and bet our NFC FUTURE OF THE YEAR...and see if we can predict the NFC Super Bowl Representative...
Before I begin, I just wanted to pass along that this Pick was discussed in detail on This Week's Video Pod-Cast...and again in the Extra Session, so I'll keep this straight and to the point...And you can easily access that analysis for more details...
Also, as I mentioned on that Pod-Cast, since the end of the 2008 NFL Season...and up until we got into this year's Pre-Season, my initial choice to Win the Super Bowl from the NFC...were the NY GIANTS...But because I just haven't been able to get over their inefficiency at Wide Receiver...I'm not willing to make them my 1st choice anymore...
But with that said, I would hate to see them get there and not have anything pending...And because our 1st Choice is offering us such a great price...I decided that I would go ahead and Bet the 1st Choice for 4 Units...then toss 1 Unit on the Giants...
So without anymore delays...let's get to this year's Future Bet and see if we can follow up L/Yr's Future Winner (STEELERS +1300) with an even bigger payday...
TO WIN 2009 SUPER BOWL : NFC REPRESENTATIVE/S
1.) NEW ORLEANS SAINTS +2000....(4*)
Bottom Line...at 20-1, the Saints are offering us an incredible amount of Value...And as I've explained on countless Future Bets that we've made in the past...we don't neccessarily need to Win this Bet...to earn a Profit from it...Which is exactly why at 20-1, I feel there is plenty of potential to earn with the Saints...
This team may have gone 8-8 last season...But they outgained their opponents by an average of 71 Yrds Per Game, which is indicative of an "11-5" team...And let's not forget that this team lost a total of 6 Games, by a combined "18" Points...So it could have very easily been a much better season for the Saints as far as records go...
Let's also not forget that this team was in the NFC Championship Game just a few years ago...So we aren't looking at a team who needs to turn it around out of nowhere...And I'm sure you've all heard it said many times..."Imagine if this team had a defense"...Because since Brees came to NO, they've consistantly put one of the NFL's Best Offenses on the field...each and every year...
And this year's offense should be no different...But what I'm counting on to be different, is the Defense...Because that has been this franchises weakness, and reason they haven't gotten over the hump...Well for 2009, the Saints welcome Defensive Coordinator Greeg Williams to the team...and I can assure you, he's a huge upgrade and will eventually improve this defense significantly...And more importantly, I think they've got some pieces on that defense that simply needs the right person to lead them...And that's where I think Williams will be key, and his impact should be felt immediately...
Finally, although they do not have the easiest schedule in the NFL...they do get Dallas, New England, and NY Giants...All at Home, which has been a huge edge for the Saints in recent years...And with the other 3 teams in their division, expected to have 3 of the 5 toughest schedules in the NFL for '09...I think the Saints go ahead and win this division...And with a little luck, and those other NFC teams beating up on each other...especially in the East...the Saints just may find themselves at Home in the Playoffs...Which would greatly improve their chances of advancing in the Playoffs...and more importantly, allowing us to earn from our Future Bet...
So let's go ahead and back the New Orleans Saints...to be the NFC Representative, and Win the Super Bowl at +2000 for 4 Units...Best of Luck, Vegas-Runner..
