Most sports books had Tennessee as a 3 point favorite as the game started at 4:15 Eastern time. With the game tied at 10 it appeared to everyone that the play clock had ran out and a delay of game penalty would be called. Here is the visual evidence:
Of course the penalty wasn't called and in turned the Ravens went on to kick the game winning field goal. Covering the spread and winning the game outright. So the question begs what if they refs made the correct call? The scenarios are pretty simple.
1- Ravens still win either in regulation or OT and cover.
2- The Titans win in OT or regulation where they either push with a FG or win outright with a touchdown.
That is the interesting thing about gambling sometimes it comes down to one play or one call. That is why if you do lose on something like this you can't cry over spilled milk you just have to move on to the next game because some things are just out of your control.
Speaking of how close one play can change a game what if Joe Flacco takes one more step out of the end zone? What would have happened then?
In the end it was Titans turnovers more than anything else. But there are a lot of people upset today. The story is on the front page of Yahoo.
ALTHOUGH I WAS ON THE WRONG SIDE AND I WAS ALSO ON THE WRONG SIDE EARLIER THIS YEAR IN PITTSBURGH AND OTHER GAMES. I HATE WHEN CALLS ARE BLOWN, USUALLY TEAMS HAVE MANY CHANCES IN THE GAME TO WIN OR LOSE AND YOU COULD DERIVE THE LOSS BACK TO SEVERAL FAILED ATTEMPTS TO GET IN THE ENDZONE ETC..
The Titans couldn't Challenge that play even if they had wanted to...but I have to say that it was a blown call by the refs who weren't paying attention to the clock because I know they give them a second to snap it...but that was one long ass second...VR
If your waiting for the refs to help you win a game than you will more often than not be on the losing side. The ravens defense forced turnovers and deserved to win the game. I was also on the Titans.
Reminded me a lot of the Oklahoma-Florida game - you can't not score in key situations and expect to win nor do you deserve to. You can make excuses, but the turnover battle is almost always the deciding factor in the playoffs...
The bottom line regarding this game is this.....Tennessee GAVE the game away with all those points they left on the field in the 1st half...ya, Crumpler's fumble with 6-7 minutles left on Baltimore's 10 yd line that was recovered by B-More on their own 2 yd line was HUGE as well.......but Tennessee gave that game away in the 1st half IMO......it's tough to say that Tennessee was the "right side" but lost....because right side teams don't FLOUNDER like Tennessee did inside the redzone & at home.....Im still burning over the loss...but it is what it is..... :(
Maybe Balt would have converted anyway, maybe they wouldn't have, we'll never know. Do think there were an incredible amout of Hochuli-type boneheaded officialing in the NFL this year....
You get a second after it ticks to 0 before its a penalty...
Not as controversial as some other endings this season, and you have to give the Ravens some credit. They won the turnover battle, which was the real deciding factor in this game...
Shouldn't the Tennessee coach throw his challenge flag before the next Baltimore snap?
