The Pittsburgh Steelers are the defending Super Bowl Champs and look to defend their title once again this season. Many times teams will fall after reaching the pinnacle of winning a title but I don't see that happening this year with this team. In fact I see several reasons the Steelers will have another Good year and why I have made a future bet on them for their season win total.

There is no question that the AFC is stronger than the NFC but the Steelers have caught a major break in scheduling this year which doesn't happen when your the defending Super Champs. Last season the Steelers had what was arguably the toughest schedule in the NFL but this season I feel they have one of the easiest and here's why.

The Steelers have games against the entire NFC North a division that was 25-39 last year. Pittsburgh should go 3-1 at worse with those 4 Games.  The Steelers also play the entire AFC West a division that was 23-41 last year. Again Pittsburgh should go at least 3-1 with toughest game being San Diego who plays with Double Revenge from last year.

The Steelers face 2 division winners in Miami & Tennessee they should split there at least leaving the Steelers at 7-3 at worst going into division play. With 6 Games vs Cincinnati, Cleveland and Baltimore the Steelers end up 4-2 in division play at worse giving the Steelers a 11-5 or 12-4 Season.

Vegas has set the Win total on the Steelers at 10.5 and I have already bet the Steelers OVER 10.5 Wins. It looks like once again the Steelers and Patriots will be battling to see who goes to the Super Bowl from the AFC with San Diego being my dark horse team.

  • Please see my comments and tell me you all were wrong and i was right.

  • One Last Note that I didn't mention in my Blog is that the other good team in Pittsburgh's division Baltimore will not have the success they had last year. Baltimore had two things working for them last a new coach (always hard to game plan for) and a Joe Flacco will take a step back this year as do most rookies who have a breakout year. Again PITTSBURGH OVER 10.5 a great Wager!

  • When they win ten i'm bringing this post back up and you can all call my the football genius :)

  • Well, as a KC resident, the Chargers will not doubt have an easy time being Division Champs, thats a given!!

  • It's hard not to bet on the Steelers to win over 10.5 games.  As you said, they do have the easiest schedule this year.  Just hope they don't take those easy teams likely, as they do have some bite.  As a Charger fan, I would love to have a rematch with them deep into the post season as I feel we have a better chance of taking out the Steelers over the Patriots to finally make a SB.  Hopefully, the Chargers can finally get over the that hump and take out these two power houses to make the big one.  We desperately need a SB trophy in our case.  It's long over due.  Good read Marco.

  • THIS IS AN AWESOME FUTURES BET GUYS...PAY CLOSE ATTENTION!  Good stuff Marco..and their schedule is easy and in a somewhat weak division as far as I ma concerned.  Baltimore will not have the year they did last year...

Maybe they might be over rated as 1 poster noted, but look at the schedule!   Defense wins games and lack of offense is duely noted, but they can hold people to 14 points and under in most cases........

  • Pittsburgh has the easiest schedule of any team this year...

  • I feel foolish to say this but I still think Pittsburgh is the most over rated winning team in the NFL.  I know the won the Super Bowl (but the cards covered) and I know Big Ben is well big, but this team will not win 10 games this year.  The no offensive scoring will catch up to them eventually.  I think your the man Marco I just not agreeing with you on this one.

  • Agree with you, on your Steelers Forecast. Good Luck on a Profitable 2009 Football Season!
