Memphis the Rodney Dangerfield of College Basketball

Will someone anyone please tell me what more Memphis has to do to make people happy. This team has the nation's longest winning streak at 25 in a row. They were only a few missed foul shots away from winning the National Championship last year to Kansas. They destroyed everyone in their Conference Tournament and yet it still is not enough. What more do you want from this team? Yes they play in Conference USA a weak conference for sure but didn't they play in that conference last year and didn't they make it to the National Championship Game?

Can you say that Louisville,Pitt, Connecticut and North Carolina don't deserve to be #1's. Not really but come on let's look at the entire picture when was the last time you had 3 #1 seeds from the same conference. Memphis played a solid non-conference schedule as they played games against Georgetown, Xavier, Syracuse, Gonzaga, Tennessee, Seton Hall and Cincinnati. how can you complain when 4 of those 7 opponents made the Big Dance and 3 of them were from the Powerhouse Big East Conference.

Here's the facts:

Memphis went 31-3

25 Game Winning Streak

Held 11 of their last 12 opponents to under 40% Shooting

Held 9 of their last 12 opponents to under 50 points

Vegas Been Wrong with Memphis as Well 

The NCAA Selection Committee aren't the only people who haven't given Memphis their proper due. The Las Vegas Lines makers haven't had a clue how good this team is either as Memphis is 13-4 ATS the last 17 Games with 2 of those losses coming when they were 23 point favorites. This team has over achieved all year and I feel is going to be on a mission. This is a team that has to feel like the Rodney Dangerfield of College Basketball as they just can't get no respect.

Memphis was a young team that grew up right before our eyes but no one is taking notice. The beauty of College Basketball unlike College Football is the National Championship is decided on the floor in a 65 team tournament with the last team standing cutting down the nets and holding the National Championship Trophy. Yes Memphis you did get screwed not getting a #1 seed then you get shipped to the West region. But take solace in the fact that if this was football you would be denied your chance at the National Championship because of the polls but this is College Basketball and you get to show it on the court.
