There is not a baseball fan and/or expert in the WORLD who at this point in the season would have believed the Tigers would only be behind the San Diego Padres as the worst team in baseball (record wise). Being a long time Tiger's fan who had season tickets the year they were the worst of all time, I was beyond excited about this upcoming season. Going down to one of the nicest parks in the country to watch some winning baseball while eating dog-after-dog and washing it down with ice cold Labatt Blue. The way this season is going, the only thing left are the hot dogs, beer and some throwback jerseys to the 1984 squad. Two years ago they were in the World Series and last season just missed out at the end for a repeat trip to the playoffs. After some major pick ups this year, the Tigers were almost a universal choice to be one of the top two or three teams in the entire league. I mean you keep your entire lineup and add future hall of famer Miguel Cabrera? Yeah, we knew the pitching was average and the bullpen suspect, but with Cabrera, Pudge, Sheffield, Mags, Guillen, Polanco and Granderson in the lineup, did it even matter when you should be scoring 10 runs a game?So someone help me! Why in the hell are the Tigers so shitty!
Word on street Sheff is gone by Tuesday!
to where?
Easy - their "ace" is not an ace this year, and the rest of the pitching staff is garbage. Plus, the team that was supposed to score 1,000 runs is on pace for about 300 less right now.
What's wrong with them?
Two things: Offense, and defense.
Which is to say... Just about everything.
The pitching is getting better, but that doesn't say much. When the Starter throws a good game, it seems that the bullpen will get lit up. If the Starter gets shelled, the bullpen locks it down.
But more embarassing, is the Little League-like defense these guys are playing. Dropped routine pop-ups, missed double-plays, and errors. It's hard for a fan to even watch a game without being embarassed by their poor play.
Now worst of all... Is the stunning lack of offense. I believe they have been shut-out 7 times so far this year. That's only 2 less than all of the record setting 2003 season for futility.
This is the most confusing, and infuriatingly frustrating aspect of their game. It's a line-up that features last year's AL batting Champ, and second runner-up. It features a myriad of career .300 hiters, and possibly the best player under the age of 25 to ever play the game.
So where are the hits???
Well... That's not entirely fair, as they are getting some hits. But almost never when they count... when there are boys on the bases.
Right now, the team is just one big confused pile of steaming shit. They don't know what's wrong. We don't know what's wrong. The managment don't know what's wrong.
May as well just enjoy the hot dog, beer, and the sunshine, because the only good thing on the grass at Comerica Park, is the visiting team.
The first game against the D-Backs up 3-2. Easy pop up and all three stand around looking at each other and it lands in the middle.

On a serious note, this very hard to figure JD. Im sure Leyland is up to 3 cartons a week as a result. MAybe theyre a little old. And maybe a little too AllStar/fat contract happy...I swear you look at the lineup and expect 7 runs a game. Its really bad when a fan cant answer this question about them. I think Kenny is done (duh) and the others just need an ass kicking because those pitchers have it in them, it just isnt happening.
The had a closed door with Leland and Dombromski.
A lot of it on the local radio is the pitching coach. The pitchers are not improving and guys like Bonderman still have the same two pitches.
Not responding to your anti-MI post Chuck....Not debating Detroit is a sewer, but MI overall is one of the nicest states in the country for relaxation (fishing, lakes, etc).
Plus for the golfers, only two states (FLA, CA) have more golf courses.
Golf is very cool in MICH...
pretty easy, i sent a letter to the freep before the season started and stated the tigers would be lucky to reach 88 and 74 in wins and losses, lots of old guys ,pudge has only hit 100 rbi once in his carreer and is over the hill, sheffield is off hgh and also very old, no way ordonez could repeat last years numbers, inge is all defense and a 240 hitter, renteria has been trade bait the last several years, thames is a 250 hitter, robertson can't get passed the fifth, jones sucks (both of them),willis was done ask the marlins, guillen can't field ask seattle,no answer for cabrera but florida knew something like he should lose a ton of weight and baseball production numbers are down across the board, no more hgh, a lot of the tigers must have used the supplement in previous years
GOT THAT "OLD" BASTARD FOR A MANAGER JD ! NEED SOME NEW "YOUNG" BLOOD IN THERE TO FIRE UP THE TROOPS !
