GoodFellas NBA Daily Notes Monday, January 26th, 2009

Houston @ New York

-Houston beat NY 96-76 AT Houston as 5.5 pt favs back on Jan. 10th-

-Houston beat Detroit 108-105 AT Detroit yesterday on ESPN, in a game that saw both T-Mac & Artest return from injuries-

-Both teams are playing their 3rd game in 4 days, but Houston is playing in a back to back as well & this is their final game of their 3 game east coast road trip-

-NY has been playing great ball at home, as they are 5-1 SU & ATS in their L/6 home games-

-NY has the 2nd worst FG% in the NBA at just 43.7% & they have the 3rd worst FG% against them, as opponents shoot 47.8% vs them-

Atlanta @ Miami

-Atlanta beat Miami 87-73 AT Miami as 2 pt road dogs back on Dec. 12th & Miami should be very up for this game tonight, as they sit just 2.5 games behind Atlanta in the Southeast division-

-Atlanta is playing its 3rd game in 4 days and are on a back to back tonight as well-

-Atlanta is coming off a 104-99 loss AT Phoenix yesterday as Joe Johnson shot just 5-20 from the field & 1-6 from 3 pt land &, that ended their 3 game winning streak-

-Miami is coming off a home win over Orlando on Saturday night (103-97) & they are looking for consecutive home wins for the 1st time this month tonight-

New Jersey @ Oklahoma City

-NJ beat Oklahoma City 103-99 AT NJ as 6.5 pt favs back on Jan. 12th-

-NJ is playing its 4th game in 6 days & this is their final game of their 4 game road trip tonight-

-Oklahoma City has been off the L/2 days & they are coming off a 107-104 loss AT the Clippers on Friday night-

-NJ is 1-5 SU & ATS in their L/6 games, but they are 14-5 ATS in their L/19 road games-

-NJ is 10-8 SU & ATS vs the Western Conference this season-

-Oklahoma City is 5-18 SU & 15-8 TS vs the Eastern Conference this season-

Philadelphia @ New Orleans

-New Orleans blew out Philly both times they played last season (93-72 AT Philly) & 95-76 AT New Orleans) & I imagine Philly is really looking forward to this game tonight-

-New Orleans is without  C Tyson Chandler (ankle) until after the all-star break, according to head coach Byron Scott & F David West is still day to day & quesionable for tonights game with a sore back-

-New Orleans has been off since a Friday night loss AT Minnesota 116-108 & today is the 1st game of a 3 game homestand for them-

-New Orleans is the NBA's 2nd worst rebounding team at just 38.6 boards per game (with Chandler being out, this will only be more of a problem for them as Minnesota outrebounded them (42-26) on Friday night-

-Philly is coming off a 116-110 home win over NY on Saturday night & this is the 1st game of quick 2 game road trip for Philly tonight-

-Philly is playing outstanding ball right now, as they are 8-1 SU & ATS in their L/9 games, however New Orleans is 11-2 SU over their L/13 home games-

Portland @ LA Clippers

-Clippers beat Porland AT Portland in double overtime as 8.5 pt dogs back on Dec. 12th & you can bet the farm, Portland has had this game circled since that terrible loss- Ex-Blazer Zach Randolph went bonkers vs his old team as he had 38 pts and 11 boards & Baron Davis hit a 3-ball at the buzzer to send the game into overtime.

-Both Baron Davis & Zach Randolph are OUT tonight with injuries, & C Marcus Camby is still day to day & remains questionable for tonights game, as he sat out again last night vs Golden St.

-Clippers are playing their 3rd game in 4 days & are in a back to back spot tonight as well-

-Portland has played just one game in the last 4 days & that was a home win over the Wizards on Saturday night (100-87) in a game they cruised to victory from start to finish-

-I would expect a extremely focused & energized effort out of Portland tonight, as this game is more than just "another regular season game" for the Blazers tonight-

  • Thanks Jeff, I apperciate it buddy.

  • Keep up the great work with this

  • Steve[- Just heard that Blake is now probable for tonights game....man have they missed his smarts leading the offense, and now Sergio can go to the bench for GOOD......trade this clown please Pritchard......

  • Oh ya Steve, this is good stuff, but laying double digits on the road is a very scary thing......although I do think this is as good as anytime to do so.......I dcided to TEASE them down to -4.5 to Okie St +9 tonight....thanks for the insight & comments in my BLOG, its always good to hear your take on things.

  • Hey, GF....I posted these comments yesterday, re. Port at LAC - FYI, probably more approriate today:

    For what it's worth

OH - almost forgot ....the Clippers are ....uh

    not good

    Sorta misleading 'trend', but

Clipps can't outscore decent Offensive Teams...

    or really anyone else, but

LAC is 1-10 S|U, 2-8-1 ATS vs Top 20% Off Teams,

    (NOW, 1-11 \ 2-9-1)

GS may really thump this one in Oakland Tonight...

    Good timing for Portland ~

Blazers will be in LA waiting for Clipps -

and probably ready, willing and able to take Clipps behind the woodshed - As YOU know, Clippers administered the Blazers' WORST loss of season (at least, worst psychologically)

Clips loss still being referred to in these parts....

Not sure if you heard it, but

On his weekly Local Radio Segment,

Blazers' Channing Frye indicated that he, 'Hoped they wouldn't be looking past the Wizards (last night), before finally getting their chance to re-pay the Clippers (in Staples Mon) for HUMILIATING us in the Garden'

Losing to a 4-17 team on the home Floor that Portland had been so supremely successful - was a big blow to this young team.  That fateful 2OT Clippers loss sent Blazers into a mini-tailspin, proving that it had a lasting impact.

Mon Nights' game in LA shapes up to be a great money-maker on Blazers' revenge factor among other things, of course....hopefully, the line comes in at a manageable PORT -6.5 to -8 range....

OPENED AT 9.5...STILL GOOD VALUE, IMO.....

ANYTHING WITHIN DD - PORTLAND WILL MOST DEFINATELY LOOK TO KEEP THE PRESSURE ON ALL THE WAY TO HORN.

  • Thanks Joe- glad you get something out of these BLOGS every day, thats why I do them, for others to pick and choose what they see as relevant & hopefully help them to the winners circle.

  • Thanks for the info agin, GF.
