Last night news spread that “Jersey Boys” (buy tickets here) was leaving the Palazzo in Las Vegas for Paris Las Vegas.
Normally I wouldn’t care because I’m not much of a show guy, but
Palazzo without Jersey Boys is like having a radio on mute to me.
The musical will end its run at the Palazzo, a Las Vegas Sands Corp. resort, at the end of this year and reopen at Paris Las Vegas, a Caesars Entertainment Corp. property, in early 2012.
Exact dates for both the final performance at the Palazzo and the opening at Paris will be announced later, the production said.
The few times I’ve stayed at Palazzo the music of Jersey Boys was
everywhere. I can still hear the music playing in the elevator each time
I went up or down. After a few trips I thought that this may be the
best music I’ll hear on an elevator in Vegas. In fact, it still is the best music I’ve heard. Although it doesn’t make me want to see the show (buy tickets here)
it’s one of the few show attractions in Vegas that doesn’t seem to
bother me and probably my most favorite elevator ride. (Least favorite
is Planet Hollywood because of this.)
This won’t make me want to stay at Paris, but “Jersey Boys” moving
there can only be a good thing for Paris as I know many people like the
music the way I do. I grew up listening to the oldies because my parents
did and, while it’s not something I listen to on my own, I find it
unoffensive and the more mainstream older demographic does as well.
The real questions lie here.
1. Where does Barry Manilow go now?
2. What do the Kardashian’s think?
3. Where is my Joe Montegna lollipop from Sugar Factory?
DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!
