DenverMoney's NHL Notes February 20th 2009

Anaheim @ Detroit

Tonigh'ts game between Anaheim and Detroit brging an interesting matchup. Detroit this is year is one of the top teams in the league, scoring the 3 most points of all teams this year. The Red Wings led by right wing Marian Hossa who has scored 33 goals this year including 2 goals in the loss Sunday vs. Colorado. Detroit this year is averaging 3.71 goals a gmae and in their last 10 games they have seen the total go over in 8 of those games.

Anaheim on the other hand has had an up and down season. The ducks averaging 2.76 goals per game lead by RW Cory Perry with 20 goals. The ducks have also seen the total go over in 6 of their last 8 games versus the central. The O/U is also 5-5 in their last 10 including going over in the last 2 ducks game. Ducks have struggled in Detroit winning only 3 games in 26 tries. Look for the Ducks to get some goals tonight as their are still fighting to make the playoffs and also looking to avoid their 3rd straight loss.

Tampa Bay @ Carolina

Tampa bay is a bad team this year and could help Carolina get their first home win this month. Tampa has gone 2-6-2 over their past 10 games and 9-15-4 on the road this year including losing their last 3 games. The Lightning are averaging only 2.50 goals per game this year. The Lightning vs the southeast are 7-26 over their last 33 games. They have struggled on the road over the last 70 games as well going 20-50. I see the same thing tonight in Carolina.

Carolina has had a little better year this year. The Hurricanes still have a chance to make playoffs this year and a win at home tonight could help them gain some momentum and points to help them get into the final playoff spot. Carolina this year has played well at home going 14-13-1 although they are yet to get a win at the RBC Center this month. Over their last 10 games the Hurricanes have gone 6-4. They average 2.56 goals per game this year and have seen the under in 10 of the last 12 games versus the Southeast division.

The Head to Head matchup shows this game to play Under as it has gone under 6 of the last 9 games including 3 of the 4 games this year. The only game to go over was the first game their played back in October. This could be the 2nd game to go over as the lightning have struggled lately being outscored 17-7 over their last 4 road games. I see Carolina winning this game to make it 5-0 this year versus Tampa Bay.

  • Damn I am an idiot, I write my blog for the carolina game and say it is to go under and then I play the over. I guess I should have stuck with what I wrote lol
