Hi Pregame community!
We are releasing the writeups later than usual, but everything is updated now.
Today we have three picks and finally we are bouncing back big time, with a 9-1 run in our last 10 NBA Plays!
Here it is the usual free pick:
NBA - Utah Jazz @ Portland Trail Blazers
I
consider that this play have some risk associated, as the Jazz are an
unpredictable team lately and it's hard to find out their approach for
tonight's game. However, one thing we can be sure about it is the fact
that this game will be a tough and physical game.
The Jazz already beat twice the Blazers on this season, so this is
a huge revenge game for the home. In those contests the media said that
the Blazers were too soft and the Jazz outmuscled them, sp the Blazers
will make sure that this doesn't happen tonight. Just look to some
statements of the Blazers staff:
"Jerry Sloan doesn't care if he's playing girls, if you step out
there on the court, he is going to abuse you," Roy said. "They just
play extremely hard. The thing with us is we have to match that. Every
time we match it, we do pretty well against them. It's when we play
soft when we struggle."
That's why Blazers coach Nate McMillan after Friday's practice
wanted to talk more about his team's physical play than about the
importance of tonight's game. McMillan has a deep respect for Sloan and
he has been imploring his Blazers to adopt more of the defensive
principles used by the Jazz.
"We are starting to see our guys get a little closer, and touch a
little bit more, but I would like to see more touching, more contact
than we have seen in the last few games," McMillan said.
Well,
the Blazers are playing a stellar defense lately. In the last 10 games
they are the best defense of the league by allowing just 87.6 ppg and
obligating the opponents to commit 16.0 TO/game! The key reason is the
great moment of rookie Greg Odon who is playing great "D" down the
paint and intimidating the opponent's big men. In fact, the Blazers are
the 20th best team in points in the paint allowed, but in the last 10
games, they are the third best team only trailing the Celtics and the
Magic. What an improvement! This is important for this game because the
Jazz have an offensive system that relies on the constant attack of the
basket.
The Jazz are playing a poorly defense, as the Over is 7-3 L10 games
and is not a mere coincidence that in the same span they are 4-6 SU and
2-8 ATS. It is in here that this pick could be in danger, however it is
this risk that give us an extraordinary line for this foe. I believe
that the Jazz will play tough and physical like the Blazers and we must
not forget that the Under is 6-1 in Jazz last 7 against a team with a
winning record.
Portland is 25-11 Under revenging a same season loss against an
opponent over the last 2 seasons and definitely this is a revenge game
for them. They are also 12-4 Under in their last 16 games as a
favorite of 5.0-10.5 and I expect a game where probably only the winner
will reach the century mark points. Take the under in here.
