Sac,
I have no idea if this is going on and don't concern myself over it but I am pretty sure they would pay the ref in cash that he would then keep under his mattress. No?
Has there ever been a case of match fixers being caught via banking indescrepencies?
"I mean really, I don't see why you people just can't watch the horses run around the track and not bet on them."
I absolutely thought that the large black side judge in the MNF game was favouring calls for Atlanta side...flags in favour of atlanta, certain he called the fumble recovery for atlanta and noticed he did not want to reward Mcgahee a touchdown. Witnessed other exact calls but can't remember right now. Felt very fishy...

Many cases are caught due to bragging, I believe. It's really hard to get tons of money and not tell your buddies, right?!
That said, you are correct.. If those paying refs are keeping large sums of cash out of the banking system they can make those payments out of the scope of banking regulation. And if those receiving the cash are depositing using structured methods, or not depositing at all... Once again, it's out of scope.
My point is, it's rare for a common man to feel comfortable stashing that amount of cash. And it's very rare for a money launderer NOT to use banks to store their cash. Their are ways to launder money with banks, I expect the payers to know this.. but I wouldn't expect the payees to. I just think of it in terms of my the friends that I have who ref NAIA or Div 2. These are guys with Mortgage debt or small liquidity balances. I'd predict they'd use any large cash payments to supplement those accounts. Which puts them on the map... And as the payer, that'd be my concern with approaching them... because it'd expose both parties.

i agree, but I attributed it to home field. The lower the level of competition, the more the referee is prone to play to the crowd. I feel like these refs fall into that natural instinct.
Sac Lawson, your ideas are correct about banking, but who in there right mind would take a check from a criminal mind, why would a criminal fixing a game write a check to a said offical? This is nonsence, they would be paid in cash, then they would obv hide that cash say under the bed. LOL , but if they were smart they would put it in a safe deposit box , when the game dosnest go there way there would be a shakedown.
There are many more factors to fixing the game than you think, and yes I do think that it does happen. Esp with pro refs , these replacement refs there are too many variables, too many miss calls , too many calls that ddidnt even happen, maybe they were making up for a missed call a play or 2 prior but the calls are so very inconsistant, its hard to tell.
If anyone remembers earlier in the preseason when the first female ref appeared, then she was investigated for playing in a wsop tournament. supposedly refs arent allowed to gamble whatsoever or enter a casino. if these refs were to gain say $50k from a game fix, they would have to send the money to a family member over a period of time because you cant say you or your wife won from a jackpot at a casino.
the motive is there, but i cant imagine a ref leaning to one side because of the money aspect. there is not enough money for both sides to tempt a ref because of how easy it would be to track and get caught.
however i do think these refs are being biased, calling college based rules, and have been showing signs of not knowing what they are doing. we already saw a saints fan as a ref that was pulled from a game. who knows what would have happened if he actually reffed the game. maybe we would have seen a few ''hero'' moments where he makes a bad call on carolina and a good call for saints so he stands out on tv and his family/friends can enjoy it.
