2007-08 Las Vegas Hilton Super Contest Team (Party in Vegas?)

For all you newbies, just a little history....

Every year The Las Vegas Hilton runs the NFL Super Contest. Essentially the "Super Bowl of Handicapping". A few years back I ponied up the $1500.00 entry fee and put together a hand selected team made up of forum members. What an amazing ride that year was as we finished tied for 1st, cashing in a six figure pay day. I evenly divided the $100,000+ prize and issued a check for $25,000.00 to each member of the team.

Fast forward to 2007 and I am now merged with Pregame, but the excitement of that incredible run is fresh in my mind. So here is how it is going to go down this season:

Team Captain: Hizz Honor- The 1st team captain and a friend of mine since the beginning in this business. Year in, year out, constantly provides tons of winners to the board while helping maintain order. I consider him a friend and glad to see him once again be on the team. Toss in he hit like 70% in the NFL last year also helps :)

Co-Captain: Dommylocks- In what I like to call the 2nd round of old-schoolers, Dommy has been with me for many years. Solid cat not only with handicapping, but personally. Once again, his 70% last season for the Hilton Team is an added bonus.

Now this leaves three spots....

Team Member #3: Polo- Part of the "Hilton Championship Team" who actually was part of the site BEFORE Hizz back when I was on GEOCITIES! Did not even have a domain of my own yet. I spoke with Polo today and he will be back 100% once football is in full swing.

Two spots remaining.......

Team Member #4: This will be a new twist for this season. I want this person to be nominated by their peers. This will be simple.
1) Email me at johnny@pregame.com telling me what forum member should be on the team. Give me as much detail on "WHY" they should represent my team of handicappers and in essence, the entire Pregame family.
2) You CAN'T email me for yourself. Nomination emails can only come from your peers on the board.
BUT...
If you feel you should be considered, feel free to make the following post on the board:
Nominate (your name) for the Pregame Super Contest Team. Let people know why you think you should be given one of the five NFL selections submitted each week to the Las Vegas Hilton Super Contest.

Last spot?

You. The forum. The Pregame family. Each week on Tuesday, we will have a thread where the forum can discuss and vote on their top selection for the week. If the selection is opposite or the same as one of the four static spots we will go to the next pick on the list.

So what if we win or cash for serious cash? Well, I spoke with RJ and this is what we came up with:

A bash in Las Vegas paid for by a the winnings from the 5th spot. If the $$$ win is big enough we will get a block of rooms (good chance at the Venetian) and put up not only the team but our top posters.

Few questions that need to be addressed:

Beerleader: A good friend of mine who won a spot on this year's team by winning last season's NFL contest. Due to having too many things on his plate and not being on the forums Beerleader decided he would give up his spot on the team.

The Boys: Along with Hizz, championed the original team to the title. A friend of mine who actually was at my wedding. The Boys has not been on the board lately due to some personal issues that have come up. He knows how much I respect him and once he is back in the game, will have a spot on the team next season no questions asked if he chooses.

What now? We need to get our 4th spot filled so get emailing to johnny@pregame.com on your nomination. If you want to make sure the forum is aware of your credentials, get posting on why you should be on the team.
