No one will dispute that the Beatles have influenced the course of history in more than one way, more than musically. They were actually the ones who with the help of Bob Dylan and his Plaza Hotel room full of smoke - have triggered what was lately referred as the Seventies Revolution. We all remember it with the anti war protests and Casius Clay refusing to go to Nam and later becoming Muhammad Ali, but, the place it actually began was not the university and college campuses - but, that room in Plaza Hotel at the Central Park South in NYC where Bob Dylan introduced the Beatles to the weed. But, weed is not what I want to talk about. I just want to say the at the same time the Beatles were getting so famous - there was another group called Knickerbockers. No. Not the New York Knicks, nor the Knickerbockers men's club located next to the Pierre hotel in NYC which is not that far from the Plaza hotel - but the group which actually wrote the best song the Beatles never wrote as John Lennon said once
So, why am I saying all this? Because I hope that me mimicking Dave will be received with a smile and not with any other emotion. I hope that what I will write about this weeks NFL games will be the best NFL week 14 preview Dave Malinsky never wrote.
What the novels by two different Ostrovsky's - "How the steel was Tempered" and "By the way of deception" have in common with the NFL week #14?
Nikolay Ostrovsky - a Russian author and Viktor Ostrovsky - the former Israeli Secret Service agent who defected to Canada - both wrote bestsellers that prepared the public for what is going to happen. The Russian prepared the Russians for the consequences of the October Revolution that led the Commies to the power, and Viktor Ostrovsky prepared the world opinion before USA invaded Iraq in the nineties of the last century. And I am here to connect the dots preparing us for the showdown at noon at the Buffalo stadium between the Steelers who "need" this game desperately hoping to gain on the Ravens who play a day later at the nearby Foxboro and the Bills who hope to win this one to get into the wild card picture. I know most of us take a look at the game and right away think - hey, the Steelers have to lay only 3 points and Big Ben is healthy. Seems easy. Then you remember those are the same Bills who already delivered couple "surprising" wins this season and the rust belt rivalry is on. Cold weather, December football and all the right slogans are there to assure us this game is being taken very seriously by the both teams. And then... There is this Taylor saga coming into the picture where his "lucrative future contract" with the Bills hangs on this game. Wow. That is already something to note. And then this - Woods may be available for this week and may join Sammy Watkins what will create the offensive options for Taylor he did not have since week 2. The Bills favorable points begin to pile up while the Bills may will have to win all of their 4 remaining games to end the longest playoff drought in American Pro Sports history which lasted 16 years.
So, suddenly - the Steelers -3 doesn't look that sure thing it looked before going deep into the aspects of this game. I'm not sure how the game will end as right now the public is certain the Steelers will win and cover easily which seems a bit risky considering Mike Tomlin's love for two point conversions and the lack of basic football discipline.
So, this one was only to relate to that game in Buffalo. I'd love what Dave have to say about this and not only Dave, but all who has any opinion about this game. ANd then - I may go deeper into other games as well as there are feww very interesting ones.
