I think they struggle to win 6 games this year but this is an interesting spot for 3 reasons.
1. The Chargers just signed Bosa. Had to give him biggest bonus in team history. The players see this as a victory and a glimmer of hope that ownership isn't dead set on saving money at all costs.
2. Kapernick will get booed during the National Anthem. This will bring extra notoriety and energy to the game.
3. The Chargers are launching an intense downtown stadium campaign next week. Their strategy to get 66% approval is to incourage loyal fans to vote and stay under the radar of non-fans hoping they won't get that far down the ballot.
So they have to win, hence the signing bonus and I believe the coach and team feel the urgency to get some positive momentum going.
Plus the Niners are an absolute train wreck!
