Good morning. Now the football weekend is in the rear view mirror. I well recall my days as a bookie and knowing when customers called in that with most of them I could predict who they were going to bet before they even told me. Yesterday morning I flashed back to those times. As for myself I was passing on both games as neither seemed strong enough to me to play. So I asked the guys who they were taking and sure enough nobody hesitated saying the Eagles and Vikings. I thought to myself, hmm. Well some things never change, as was most often the case back in the day in this case it was the same. Both dogs barked. I tweeted out a lean to Vikings but as I mentioned I did not personally have action on it.
Speaking of football there is mostly positive vibes flowing from Kansas City and the Chiefs following the impressive road win at Houston on sunday. However that air of elation has been tempered somewhat with the perplexing situation with OL Eric Fisher, a former number one draft pick. I had heard from my sources and stated it on Pregame some time ago that Fisher was a potential issue. With some guys coming out in the draft that competitive fire burns a little less hotly once the fat checks start to roll in. That seems to be the case with Fisher who did not start sunday in Houston. Why? Depends on who you ask. My information is that John Dorsey and Andy Reid would like to rid themselves of Fisher and the sooner the better. One high draft pick they would dearly love to have back. Once again goes to show you that at the draft combines they can measure all sorts of things but measuring desire and heart is one of those intangibles they still can get tripped up on. These kids will say all the correct things, they know the stakes. Pretty high stakes poker going on.
Another subject at hand was also centering around Kansas City and the slumping Royals. Ned Yost has stated that Johnny Cueto will indeed make his next start on friday. It is starting to get interesting with Yost. It is common knowledge in journalism circles that Yost would rather have a root canal than deal with reporters. He loathes it and his prickly side often bares itself. Hell this happens even in the best of times. But when things start to get a little sideways like now, oh brother. Yost just loathes meeting the press. And this Cueto issue is driving him plain nuts, you can see it. He does not want to talk about it. If the Royals don't start to turn this ship around and limp into the post season just watch the interviews with Yost. It will be more entertaining than his club. My buddies who are devoted fans of the Royals tolerate Yost. In now way is he as beloved as past Royals skippers Whitey Herzog or Dick Howser, not even close. Be intriguing to keep an eye on.
Finally I did mention the recent episode on our forum with popular poster Griff. To that the guys simply shook their heads. I told them the vast majority of guys who hang here are good guys and many have become friends. But there will always be the reptilian types who will slither in, just goes with the territory. Bottom line is Griff is still with us and in good health. Thankfully.
Okay, that is it for this morning fellas. It is a sunny, clear beautiful day here in mid missouri and I am looking forward to it. If anyone has any view points to share please chime in. Be interested to hear it. If you have something else to bring to the table then great, so be it.
