A very solid week gets up back up to +75 units YTD. I'm GOING FOR A BIG YEAR! CFB EARLY BIRD PACKAGE IS UP, 1st plays 2pm EST today.
The Situation: Rams put up a great effort and lead by 2, with 3 minutes to play. However, Richard Sherman has just broken up a 3rd and 4 pass, and the Rams will punt. Sea will have a big edge vs. the exhausted Rams Defense, and likely will win the game 60% of the time.....
Amazingly, the Rams figure this all out, and instead run a perfect fake punt with their punter who was a high school qb. I'm sure he had an option to kick the ball if his receiver was not open, but this one play sums up what NFL teams do right and wrong.
That play likely succeeds about 70% of the time. (Frankly I cannot remember the last time an UNEXPECTED fake fg/punt failed.......they ALWAYS seem to work). Given they get it, they win 90% of the time. So........The rams went from being an underdog to win, to being a favorite, just by having some guts.
You just KNOW the dumb dumb media would be ALL OVER this team if this play failed "YOU LOSE IF YOU DON"T GET IT!"..............
Ummmm You lose if you punt. If you fake it, you win. Even if you fail, heck you could STILL win with fgs by either side.....
Punting is often like Bunting. It's the wrong play, especially in the new NFL where gassed defenses cannot stop anyone....
Often time, the easiest way to decide what to do is to ask the opposing team (or anyone holding a MoneyLine ticket) on Sea what THEY want you to do .........You KNOW the SECOND Sea ML bettors saw it was a fake they screamed "M****** ********" ". Yet, other coaches simply don't have the courage to do what is right. And part of it is the media who is always ALL OVER any fake that fails. UNLV's Bobby Hauck is still hearing it for faking a punt vs. Fresno up 17-0.
