Joe Fortenbaugh joins the show to talk all things NFL
What is going on in Green Bay with all the Anti-Rodgers talk. Joe says nothing. The NFL is a pass first league and QBs are expected to roll up big numbers, especially a QB that has a super Bowl ring, but the OL is a mess and their early schedule has been rather tough. There is no running game and the defense has really struggled as well. This team has problems all over the place.
What's going on in Philly with Cary Williams saga. Joe isn't sure what his beef is and doesn't have a right to complain about anything. He gets routinely beat and will have a bad season. the City is not in love with him and Joe feels that the Eagles overpaid him in Free Agency. Joe does like the Niners over Philly this week after they come off that tough physical battle with the Skins.
Are the Eagles wearing teams down in the 2nd half? Well Scott dove into the numbers and found that the teams they are playing with them are even as far as yards per play in the 2nd half of games, but the big difference is that the Eagles don't turn the ball over in the second half. Joe States that a player to watch on the Eagles is Jordan Mathews, who may be ready to break out. He also says that the Eagles defense may not be trustworthy in the playoffs if they need it for a big stop.
What has happened to Riley Cooper? Well he has had some early drops and may not be targeted as much, plus there are so many other weapons around him.
The Chargers are next on the agenda. Can they pressure the Broncos in the AFC West? Joe states that the Chargers are not nearly as talented as when Norv or Marty ran the team, but they are also much better than those teams. They are tougher and are finding ways to win games late. The Chargers are weak up front, banged up at RB and have questions in the secondary, but still Rivers has turned his career around and the Chargers have learned to play within themselves, which does make them a very good team. Also note that they have always been a problem for the Broncos, which means that are a real threat in the AFC West.
The Niners are next and have really struggled in the 2nd half of games being outscored 52-3 so far. The Niner's may be losing confidence in Kaepernick. He is a 21 million dollar QB that isn't playing like one. He isn't a clutch QB and the running game for the Niners has been non-existent as well, while the defense is dealing with injuries and suspensions.
