Usually it's the quarterback who is the one hurt when getting sacked. But when the Lions sacked Aaron Rodgers this past Sunday it was Detroit middle linebacker Stephen Tulloch who suffered a season-ending torn ACL.
How did this happen to such a durable player who had never missed a game during his nine-year NFL career? It came because Tulloch was mocking Rodgers' commercial by doing a "Discount Double Check" dance following the sack.
Intimidation is one thing. Stupidity and being classless are others. I'm old school 1960s Green Bay Packers. When Ray Nitschke made a tackle he put his head down and walked back to the huddle. It's too much to ask today's ego-driven player to abide by those standards of decency.
But at least be professional enough to not get hurt doing what you're paid to do.
On the handicapping front, I'm taking a pass today on the baseball card, but have my strongest September NFC game going Sunday. I am 25-13 on my last 38 Triple Stars. The play can be found here: /pregamepros/pro-bettor/bettor.aspx?id=7746#capper.
As always, no bad luck!
