Aside from the fact Colin Kaepernick's below average passing skills pretty much cost the 49ers the game against the Bears along with some other garbage I really don't want to get into, I noticed the Bears defense was getting picked apart at times because they were so concerned with his running ability. The whole 49ers staff isn't really working with a full deck this season and their consistent atrocious play calling and choice to abandon the run game is something that makes me puke but you can bet your ass Rex Ryan and his staff won't make the same mistake. Jets rank #1 in rushing after two weeks which might not mean much because they played against OAK/GB but CHI isn't any better than those two. Geno Smith should be able to do what he wants, when he wants against this Bears defense tonight.
Against the Bears, it's important to keep in mind the 49ers got beat in the turnover department(4-0) and they still wound up losing by just one score(plus a 2 pt conversion), that tells me a lot about the opponent you just faced. It's a team who NEEDS every bounce of the ball to go their way to win games.
As far as injuries go, WR Eric Decker is dealing with hamstring problems but Rex Ryan pretty much confirmed he will give it a go but as of now, CB Dee Milliner is doubtful. Bears CB Charles Tillman is out for the year. LB Shea McClellin is out tonight along with DT Jeremiah Ratliff. All the Bears WR's are still dealing with the same issues that plagued them a week ago so it will be something to look out for. C Roberto Garza and guard Matt Slauson are still out.
I do believe the loss of Tillman and Ratliff are huge blows to an already depleted Bears defense. Rookies Will Sutton and Ego Ferguson will rotate in and out in place of Ratliff and rookie CB Kyle Fuller will take more snaps because of Tillman's injury. No matter how much potential you have, you're still a rookie and having that huge responsibility of leading your team in the secondary right now is cause for concern. It's come way to soon.
In the end, the Bears are severely out matched in this game tonight. This isn't an opinion, this is fact. The blitz packages Rex Ryan offer up and the talent he has in the trenches(Wilkerson, Richardson, Harrison) will over power a depleted offensive line in the Bears and his offense led by a mobile QB in Smith should be able to do whatever they please against a defense who still doesn't understand the meaning of discipline. Once the ground and pound game gets going, the playbook will open up for Geno Smith and the chains will move. I don't necessarily know if many points will be needed to win tonight but a win is a win regardless.
Cuter has a habit of throwing the ball in no mans land and we might see that a lot tonight due to the Jets pressure. Scratch that, I know for a fact we'll see that tonight.
