In Today's Big Conversation, Scott, Andy and Steve Preview The NFC North Division
Green Bay is 5-7 Odds To Win the Division. The Packers are the team to beat in the division, but do have a tough slate to start the year, however if the 2nd half schedule sets them up to possibly go 7-1 down the stretch. Steve feels the market has blown it with Green Bay, by setting their OL win total at 9. He feels this is a 12 win team. They have some OL questions, but having Rodgers can alleviate that pressure. Andy feels they are a 12 win team as well.
Chicago is 5-2 Odds To Win The Division. The offense really looks good on this team, but the defense will still struggle, even with all the new defensive additions. Steve wonders if the chemistry with Cutler and the rest of the team fading. They just don't rally around him. Steve does like the coach and leans over the 8.5 win total. Andy feels their is reason to expect continued success on the offensive side of the ball, while getting Jared Allen is a huge boost for this team on defense. Andy feels the Bears can make a strong run for a wildcard berth.
Detroit is 7-2 Odds To Win The Division. Andy's concern here is that this has been an underachieving team for years. They are very undisciplined, especially on defense with Suh. This team has an awful lot of talent, but the intangibles suggest that this team will struggle again. Both Andy and Steve feel that Caldwell is a terrible hire for the Lions. He is an offensive type coach and that is not the problem on this team. They need a defensive minded coach. Steve leans under the 8.5 win total.
Minnesota is 20-1 Odds To Win The Division. Andy feels there is allot of rebuilding to do on this time and will probably fall in between the 5-7 win range. This is a team with average talent, but with a tough schedule. Steve Feels that the problem is that they can't play themselves this year. If they get solid QB play then they could win 7 games. Steve also likes the Hire of Zimmer to Minnesota.
