Here is a system that I've read about, but can't say I've made any bets using it. It's quite simple - rank the teams with regard to schedule strength from 1st (most difficult) to 32nd (easiest) and bet on the team in the wildcard round that played the more difficult schedule. This system has produced a SUP and ATS mark of 32-12 since 2002. Let's look at this years wildcard teams and their scheduling strength based on sagarin's ratings.
SFR [06]
NOR [08]
IND [11]
SDG [19]
KCY [26]
CIN [27]
PHI [28]
GBY [30]
The ratings call for plays on SFR, NOR, IND, and SDG. Now let's add one more level of sophistication to this system - only bet on teams that are ranked 10 or more spot higher than their wc opponent. Voila - now we have an ATS and SUP 20-3 record. You can take a quick glance at the teams in this year's wc round and it calls for strong plays on SFR, who are slotted 24 positions higher than GBY; and NOR, who are slotted 20 positions higher than PHI; and IND, who is slotted 16 positions higher than KCY.
Okay for you dog bettors let's take a look at some numbers for betting on dogs in the wc round. If you played any dog with a higher S.O.S. in this round you would be SUP 11-8 and ATS 14-5 and even better if you can find dogs that have S.O.S. of 10 or more better than their opponent (NOR) they are SUP 7-3 and ATS 8-2.
Good luck going forward and any feedback appreciated
