Some may remember him as the nice guy dad in "Webster" or his hilarious role in "Blazing Saddles." But for us old-timers we remember Karras as one mean SOB defensive lineman. He was far from a nice guy, but he was a great player.
I remember the Packers beating the Lions in a game during the early the 60s. The Lions were leading late and had the ball. All they had to do was run out the clock. But Milt Plum threw a pass that Herb Adderly intercepted and the Packers pulled the game out.
Supposedly Karras was so irate after the game that he tried to attack Plum for costing the Lions a win.
I heard he treated lil webster like shit.
"Telegram for Mongo! Telegram for Mongo!!"
