This guy consistently "goes with his gut" in situations when there is a statistically better decision he could have made. I remember back when the Steelers played the Cardinals in the SB, and on the opening Steelers drive, Pitt takes it down to the Cardinals 1 yard line, and on 4th down Mike Tomlin decides to kick a FG. Keep in mind, the Steelers had an excellent front 7, and this was a game where the total was 47 if I remember right.
Fast forward to today. Pitt has 4th and 2 on the Seattle 25 or so. Points are not going to be easy to score in this game and Pitt is already up by 3. Instead of taking the 3 and going up by 6, he elects to have Landry Jones throw the ball. This is not a typical fake FG though because there was a timeout right before, so the defense was able to see that Pittsburg's personnel package was not their typical FG kicking unit, so they are well aware it's a fake. Every receiver was covered on the play, so Landry Jones decides to throw a lob across the field to a waiting Seattle defender.
