Deflategate just won't go away will it? It has been found out that Tom Brady most likely did know about the deflated footballs in their playoff win over the Colts in January.
Potential Sanctions are now coming and Odds will be affected in the Sportsbooks.
Andy wasn't all that surprised about what came out in the report. Teddy was surprised to see as much blame on New England as there was. Andy was surprised at that, just not at what they found.
Andy does state that is showed a pattern of football tampering that dated back to earlier in the year. You really have to wonder now if the Pats did start messing with the balls earlier, like after they blowout loss to Kansas City. Andy does feel that it is a silly rule and that other QBs have come out and stated that they have doctored balls to their liking, but also states that because Tom did not cooperate with the investigation then some punishment will probably be handed out. Maybe 1 or possibly 2 games.
One sportsbook did keep a line up for their week 1 game and Andy does applaud them as there is still allot of time before that game for the Patriots to be ready to play.
Teddy's wonders about the impact on futures because of this. Andy does state that in 2008 the Pats went 11-5 without Brady, but this year's backup QB is not as strong as Cassell was. Andy also states that this year's division is stronger than that of 2008, so it may not be as easy for the Pats to overcome if Brady is out for longer than 3 games.
Still he doesn't put anything by Bill Belichick as far as getting a backup ready to take over by the time the season starts.
Teddy asks Andy if he had to make some kind of bet involving the Pats right now what would it be? Normally Andy would look to play the Over in the Pats win total, but he still hadn't made up his mind right now, even before Deflatgate. Andy does state that he still feels that New England at -4 in their opening week game vs Pittsburgh is a good bet. He can make that play because Pittsburgh still has many holes on the defensive side of the ball and also says that if Brady is out you will probably get an even better number down the road.
The line may be adjusted down to a pick. Is this enough of an adjustment? Teddy feel that if Brady is out then Pittsburgh may go off as chalk for this game. Andy states that that is a reason that he says to maybe wait and see.
Buffalo may be a team that could benefit from Brady being out, especially in their game 2 matchup.
Next they talk a little about Bill Simmons, who is leaving ESPN. Where will he end up next?
